They’re not on at the mo’ but they were listed (a few times) by a car dealer in the Midlands, I think around Tamworth but stand to be corrected on that.

One was a 4x2 the other a 6x2, both had some strange heavyweight metal frame on the chassis’ (I think some kind of mechanical anti jack-knife) and well more than the standard ammount of air tanks & valves, the cabs looked mint outside but the interiors were mostly stripped out for the fitment of ‘roll cages’ which were still fitted, I think they were both 360hp with 8sp box’s.

I’ll keep my eye out and post a link on here if see them listed again.

Ross.

The 2 ex mira tractor units for sale had geartronic boxes in them and they reckoned that they could be converted back to manual boxes with very little work ( that is what they stated in their advert how they could claim that i just don’t know ) but volvo quietly dropped the auto boxes because they were nothing but trouble ( from what i can gather ) thats probably the big reason why they have not sold, i did make an appointment to go and have a look at the 4x2 but the auto bit just put me off other than that they looked immaculate

Your absolutely correct they were ‘Geartronic’ which also put me off.

Ross.

PS, My wifes Volvo XC90 is an auto and in the ‘blurb’ they call that ‘Geartronic’ which scared me a little before I bought it, but it’s an ordinary torque converter auto box.

nice motor this,i remember paul goode having one just like it

Does anyone out there have any figures as to the dates the last F series were built? I was given to understand that the FH12 models came out in 1993 and I’ve seen a good few L registered F’s, (as I understand it) the FH16 came out a little later so I was wondering if the F16 was built alongside the FH12’s for a short while.

The reason I ask is that I’ve just bought an F16 (after years of seasrching for a decent one I could afford) and it was first registered in June 1994 which seems like a late registered model and I’de love to ‘fill in some of the gaps’.

Not sure of dates but i think the FH16 & FH12 were launched at the same time. Newest F12 Globetrotter i think iv seen was V.G. Mathers had a late one with a funny air kit on it, an L reg(if not an M).

Nice but get the supersingles off the front and try to find a volvo vertical exhaust, the one that went in a 45* angle before going vertical with the heat sheild on the lower bit. Oh and the 470 power graphics/stripes. Or 500 ones maybe?.

Don’t worry, the singles will be on Ebay as soon as I can get either a set of new front rims or mint 2nd hand ones, not certain about the vertical exhaust tho, I had one on an F12 Globy some years ago, it was OK as the truck was a RHD but on a ‘lefty’ it’s gonna be just behind me left ear!! Also, the silencer is totally different with the outlet pointing upwards, I will have to do something with it tho as the tailpipe exits on the left and I doubt if it’ll pass a UK MOT test like that?

Lovely looking truck Ross, is it Italian or French? You’l have no problems with the exhaust pointing on the kerb my R reg FH12 did the same & was tested here 5 times or more. I like a stack on them though you’l want to hear it being a 16 burbling in your ear surely man? Look forward to seeing it finished. Have you registered it yet?/Any problems doing that or is it type approved? Anyways good luck with it it looks ace.

I remember Wilsonart’s red & white F12’s from when I used to load at Sonae in Kirkby, I remember L reg trucks bit not M’s. The truck originated in Slovenia and was ‘part exchanged’ at the dealers I’m buying it from, it certaqinly looks to be in good condition and as for being a “special lorry”, well, in so much as (in my mind) the F16 has always been a bit special but I just hope this one is at least a decent example.

Thanks mate, good news (in the short term) about the exhaust as I have to MOT the truck before registering it, the F16 has a europe wide type aproval so there should be no need for SVA (single vehicle aproval) which can be a ver costly process. As soon as I get it back I’ll ‘borrow’ a pair of headlights off an F10 we have in the yard, then it checked over and get it booked in for a test & start the registration process.
