I think the design team at Volvo HQ need to be replaced. This is such an ugly truck, it doesn’t even look that modern! Its a mismatch of lines and curves and one ugly gob at the front! Much like the mother in law!
Much prefer the MK3.
Volvo have definitely boobed on this. Merc will kill their sales.
If Scania can get their next model right with driver appeal then they will kill off their Swedish competitor once and for all.
The external looks might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s great inside. I still think volvo’s reputation will mean they sell loads. Operators need to realise the plastics need painting though!

New shape, waiting for it to be delivered.
The new shape has grown on me, especially after seeing a few in fleet colours. I know a company round here who have 5 plus one for a subby, on order for delivery in June.
I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed, or indeed cares, it may just be my anoraky (not-so-inner) self coming out, but in recent years a very common sight, not only on Britain’s, but the world’s roads, is gradually being phased-out. I noticed it the other day, thinking it was since the launch of Volvo’s latest FH, but thinking about it a little more, it came earlier than that, in the latter few years of the last FH, even before its final facelift. In fact it was probably 7 or so years ago now that we seem to have lost the long-standing ‘Globetrotter font’! I’m all for ‘out with the old and in with the new’, but I think we should take a moment to mourn the passing (albeit very steadily) of this world-recognised signage. Especially as Volvo don’t seem to have settled on a design since!
