I know Pat and Cliff run these (or similar) beasts.
Any advice? Tips?
Beyond the hiding of the fuses under the Cb panel that is…
The one’s I’m looking at running have the genuine volvo engine on a roadranger. A roadranger I can work, and I love volvo engines…
But are there any things I should be watching out for?
allikat:
What’s the betting they only break when driven by [zb]s who have no idea how to handle a modern truck engine right…
That looks very much like tempting fate to me Allikat. You had better start praying to your god that you don’t show yourself to be one of those [zb]'s.
Most people with a few years OTR have broken a mirror at some stage . I anticipate a report on the cost of a replacement mirror, from you, in the not too distant future.

I broke the nearside one on an overhanging road sign. Couldn’t work out why, it was a place I passed many times. Then realised that normally I turn right and would therefore be swinging left a bit for the turn; this time I was going straight on. Reported it and waited for the replacement. Nothing. A week later I went on holiday but on the return found the boss had put a spare Premium mirror on my Magnum. Doesn’t sit the same as the P is narrower, but after getting used to it found it to be better being closer to the line of the truck. Every cloud etc.
Just drive it Alli, a truck is a truck, American, European or whatever.
Everyone has a preference, all trucks are different, including the same model
What might be good for you, doesn’t mean it’ll be the same for others & vice versa. Get a feel of the truck, learn the truck. Just 'cos it looks good, doesn’t mean it drives good
Like Pat says, you could be the best driver in the world, but if someone drives too close to you?
Just drive it girl Just remember what’s behind you, ie: TRAILER, 53 FOOT OF IT
From what i’ve encountered with mirror lenses, they are NOT the same as European mirrors, they are far inferior, hence cold weather & slight knock = cracked mirror. Yes, some models DON’T have heated mirrors
&, as Simon says (no pun intended) Most people with OTR experience, have broken a mirror at some stage, it happens
Give her a break guys…she’s a newbie, complete with the misplaced confidence and enthusiasm which goes along with that…give her a few years and a lot more truck-miles and she’ll be as miserable and cynical as the rest of us!

I know you weren’t Pat.
I was just wondering about hints, tips and any hidden cubbyholes etc. Just to save me the trouble of finding them. Looks like they may well give me a Sterling expedite instead.
I’m just gonna get out there and do the job the best I know how. Once a British trucker, always a British trucker
Dunno about the miserable, but I got the cynical down pat (). They said the grass was greener on the other side, and they were right. It was a shiney green due to being well fed on copious amounts of masculine bovine manure.
alli, i’ve driven a sterling and a volvo. both trucks had there fair share of gremlins but i liked the sterling better. the seat in the volvo i had killed my lower back.
