Did you know that in Massachusetts it is only ilegal to use a hand held phone when driving if you are under 21 ? How stupid is that law FFS ?
I notice the matrix signs all along I-91 as I headed north through Springfield and along the Masspike.
Speaking of that but of road, just south of Springfield there is a section that has a 45mph limit and the cops are really hot on that bit so take care 
Mass still has a chock block law for parked trucks, it would keep the cops busy all day checking every truck for them

In Georgia we have to have a permit and sticker to go with the single flashing light on the back of our loads, the two strobes on the back dont count, we must have a single light showing!
In CA all our trucks have been certified clean idle but drivers still get a fine if sat there on idle due to pollution

I thought all your trucks had idle protect to shut them down after 5mins?
I got tri pak so no need to idle so I’m not sure but all u gotta do is switch cruise control on and press button once and bang you can idle 
I do that too Taffy, I have ‘clean idle’ and in NJ it’s still a ticket for idling, they have fitted Vince Lombardy service area with idleaire at every parking space but never see anyone hooked to it.
When my truck is idling it only emits nitrogen and water vapour, the exhaust actually smells like soap.

That ‘wheel chock’ law is a joke Charles, in 12 years I only ever saw one truck use them at a service area on the Masspike. It woud be hard for the cops to enforce.

Not as easy as that to trick them, I tried all sorts of tricks from other drivers and never got anything to work.

You don’t have to do that John, on a Cascadia as was mentioned, turn on the cruise control and press the increase speed button for a second and it will idle endlessly.
Even better leave engine off and turn tri pak on lol don’t see why more don’t have them fitted as they would save a fortune in fuel costs

Never worked on the one I had, nor did setting the trailer brakes or any other suggestion (mine was a Columbia).

Actually they don’t
i sat down with one of my bosses and we worked it all out besed on the idle times on my truck. Over a million miles with 30% idle time, the diesel used was cheaper than the cost and upkeep of an APU. We have one on a truck with half the mileage, so we just doubled the running costs of it and it just about paid for itself in all that time Of course we never made an allowance for the wear and tear on the engine, but then again, the APU engine will wear out too, so that kind of balances things out 
However, they should be fitted to all sleeper cab trucks, if only for the convenience and comfort of the driver
