Sorry to hear about your situation mate I bought a Daf 105 for £30,000 and ended up spending over £15,000 on it to get it right. I had it for a month and the head gasket went on it and then discovered it was one of them ones with the engine problem so i ended up spending £7000 on a engine rebuild

what caused the head gasket to go on the 105?

they don’t have the same issue as the 95

Surely DAF should have met all the costs on their !!! problem .

Agreed, I have had other niggly problems but never any drivetrain or engine problems, I had wiring problems on the first XF but this one has air all round and no such problems, in fact it has been a very good motor, as an od I have the truck how I like it now so it is probably much better than a fleet motor, I had a new Axor on hire for a while and I was so glad to get back into this truck.

It’s a commonly known problem if you run MAN’s & use main dealers.

was that in response to my post?
The o/p does run a Man and i only went into the main dealer to check on its history and they offered the repair service so i dont see the relevance of your post

It wasn’t a response, I was stating a fact.

Surely if your motor is looked after & serviced by an MAN dealer they would have been aware of the recall.

it wasnt a recall, they where just changing them on contract hire vehicles/vehicles with R&M

No recall notice ever went out even though MAN knew there was a problem (imo)

i,m sure the OP has a TGA but that link still shows there was no recall for the oil pump even though they (MAN) knew there was a problem

I’ve basically learned eventually & through experience that you must get a warranty for a year or 6 months at least when buying a 2nd hand motor.

VGS do a reasonable product (not used it myself unfortunately) with differing levels of cover.
