I’ve been offered a position on Vacuum Tankers carrying liquid sludge and as long as I pass the assessment drive the job is mine, just wondered if there is anything that could possibly be different about pulling a tanker, things I should allow for etc. Not 100% sure if it will have baffles in the tank, looking at pictures on the net I think it will have.
Also anyone got any tips for the actual job would be great.
which area you looking at. its the easiest job in the world, AW are messing about with the shifts at the mo, and the wage isnt brilliant for them but the job is the easiest thing going. Oops just seen your from Spalding, yeah the drivers are a bit unhappy up there at the mo.

Flag Fen Peterborough, as for the wage I will be able to reduce my current hours by around 40% and still take home the same money.
I run into there all the time don’t work for AW but am a contractor. You will get to know me if you start. As I say job is easy, all sites can be put onto a TomTom, all us drivers are very helpful and will help you in anyway we can. Motors are all Volvos any defects you go straight to main dealer.
You can still sit at flagfen for hours if its on a red light. Not very often but it does happen. Hope your not afraid of the dark, some of the sites are scary through the night. Lol. Had the same 4 lads on nights for a while now, did hear they were bringing another artic back into flagfen last week.

At least you can sit in your cab lol, how many k’s do you do in a shift. Apparently there under the night shift RWTD regs so no big shifts I assume.
On nights your only doing 3 or4 loads per night. They might be 3 Corbys back to flag you might be looking at 200 miles per night. Its usually 50 mins drive 25 mins to load 50 mins back 20 mins to tip. No pressure job. Seems to suit lads in their 50,s. The bowl of contention at the mo is availabillity days.

Which tbh is good for me as I want more than the 37 1/2 hours I’m contracted to.
At the interview I got the impression it’s a job I’d do for the rest of my days
