Use someone else’s card or put the magnet on it…only joking. Could u ask a Vosa officer about this.maybe phone them. A mate of mind hired a lorry to move his sister from Ireland to London.he didn’t put a card in because he didn’t think he had to.he got stopped by Vosa at Buckley.he explained that he wasn’t getting paid for this job.the Vosa man eat the ■■■ of him but told him that the fact it was paid work that he wouldn’tbe doing him.this friend of mine is a builder and knew nothing about cards or rests.the officer told them to put a taco in for the rest of the trip…the poor lad didn’t even have a taco nor knew how to fill one in. The good Vosa man got a few cards of a driver that was parked up and showed my mate how to fill it in and send him on…I don’t think the Vosa r as bad has we like to make out they are…
I think I’d put the card in and if it were a 7.5T, set it as out of scope but greater than a 7.5 then just leave it in…for some of the day
I once used the artic I drove to move house. It was quite sad just how little of the trailer my entire life’s belongings took up.
I used one once before the use of digi cards, I was told by my then comany that as it was for personal use no record was required and just insert the tacho head protection disc. When I worked on Fed Ex I also used an artic for a driving competition based 70 miles from the depot, I had the vehicle all weekend and once again was told I need not record any driving as it was not for hire or reward.
I knew a chap that had about 8 lorries with no O licence for many years. One truck was stopped by Vosa.No fine.
Told to apply for an O licence with no drama. He was not aware he needed an O licence.Catering business for pop festivals, bike race events and events in Europe.
tacho limit is 3.5t
put a card in and do manual entry
Do you have your own workshops, fitter on road test perhaps?
Do they have a special card for road testing ?

No were only a small firm just the 3 of us. We have a 7.5 but that’s my boss’s drive so if there’s work hell be using it. I’m debating getting a van and just doing a few trips I didn’t realise it would be such a complication. I had estate agent round yesterday because I’m renting the place out I have now I might just leave it part furnished so ill only take fridge freezer and washing machine so it might just be that and boxes.

Funny that I was told I don’t need an ‘O’ because it’s classed as plant and part of my job is on call to local water company. I found conflicting information, I got 3 different answers from VOSA, the plan is to purchase a tipper with grab at some point in the future so I new I would need one someday so I decided forget any hassle I will just get it.
I moved in an 18 tonner tail lift box. I put a Frisby in the slot and recycled it. Is ROG saying an 18 tonner should be recorded even for personal use?
For the house move,i have seen large vans with man and van for hire on the side. The owner of the van will drive and load up.Check his insurance and road tax before.!!
