USA Bridge Collapse

Interesting that the Dali built 2015 was too big for the old Panama Locks, but inside the new Panamax for the new locks that opened in 2016.

^^^^^^^
Oh thank god for that! After finding myself agreeing with not one, but two other posts of yours, I find the real Winseer is alive and well and (seemingly) has not been the subject of an alien abduction, so normal service can be resumed.

So it’s “The enemy within” eh? The US don’t need a “fifth column” as long as Trump still thinks he’s in with a chance.

Sigh… Modern journalists, do they even finish school? Has this reporter never heard that marine speed is measured in “knots”? 9 mph is roughly equivalent to 8 knots, which although isn’t “fast”, for a vessel that large it would feel fast as you don’t have fast manoueverability. For a human in the water though, 8 knots would feel fast as hell!

i want to see the bbc’s little black book of “experts” that they always manage to dig out the cupboard with in 2 minuets of something happening.

Jeee-zuz H Kerr-iced! I think I’ve worked out why you’re called Manalishi, it’s because you wear the two-pronged crown of total dominion over all your fellow paranoid conspiracy theorists.

ooohhh…

The journo didn’t say either fast or slow or make any other subjective comment.

If you want pedantry…or precision…or accuracy…? :grinning:
The ship was travelling in knots… and in mph, kph, and m/s.

It was travelling at a certain speed. Speed can be measured in many different ways, although knots is the norm for traditional mariners.

hence why or otherwise we have si units and agreed terms of their usage.

Here is a link to a free vessel tracker giving locations and speeds in real time. https://www.vesselfinder.com/

There are also several aviation ones available.
Such as Flightradar24

And two ships communicating with each other might well use knots.

A journo communicating with a lay audience? Knots or mph?
Which will the reader understand more easily?

All the crew diving over the side might be another :grinning:

They were on the ball, quick response

There is a rumour that pilots have special soles on their shoes.
Not non-slip though.
Written on the bottom is “Follow Me !”

Total loss of power resulting in insufficient speed to maintain steerage from an already low speed under power.

If you’re in a marine vessel and approaching an object on your trajectory, you will be considering what your speed feels like, I promise you.

And if speed was not relevant, why was it included by the “journalist”? They obviously felt their partial knowledge was somehow significant or relevant. I image they were thinking it cast the skipper in a negative light as it “sounds slow enough to have taken evasive action”.

And no, that’s not “accuracy” to quote other measures, if it was you’d also need to be quoting percentages of light speed, or furlongs per minute or any other unit also not appropriate to the object in question.

Oh no, more fuel for the “it was an inside job” conspiracy theorists
Well done those coppers :+1:

The journalist reported the speed in a form readily understandable to the public.

She didn’t say Fast nor Slow.

The accuracy is not format dependent.

Why was the speed reported at all?
In some of my posts, I commented that the meteo said zero wind, -1C air and +10 air temp, and that the there should have been, a good height clearance between the top of the ship and the base of the bridge deck.

Seems to me to be sound background info.
If it isn’t covered then someone will ask, or someone (no names!) will scream “Cover up! Why is it a secret” :grinning:

The speed of the ship relative to the water is totally relevant and critical to providing the rudder with the authority it needs to steer the ship.
In this case it looks like total loss of power v a slow moving manoeuvring ship resulting in negative steerage way.
The designers of the bridge seem to have omitted the provision of large concrete piers to guard against the possibility of errant ships hitting the known to be vulnerable bridge support pylons and bridge design.
Case closed where does Tnet CSI send our bill .The shipping company or the bridge builders or they can split it between them.

The multiple-levels of this globalist thing - are all about their continuing to rule over us - or not.

“Politically Unstable” is how THEY describe the regimes that they have less control over now than they did prior to the lockdown, and great reset’s beginnings, some years ago now.

Still they continue their “Let 'em eat cake” response to the ongoing public concerns, however.

This incoherent babbling is in what way related to the Dali incident?

However here is a quite calm YT showing the track of the Dali and the video in sync.
