US Canadian rules muck up!

Pat Hasler:
You have to enter the building every time. When you enter New Mexico on US 56 from Oklahoma/ Kansas you have to make a detour to the port of entry, if you don’t have a permit to show them for the state you have to pay for the amount of miles your route takes you, if you deviate you could get in trouble. On one occasion I came back from AZ into NM on I-10 and went inside the building but they didn’t charge me a cent ?

I know about New Mexico and Oregon but I’m licenced/permitted for all the other states and he gave the impression when he threw my paperwork back at me that I was wasting his time for going in. I’ve been told by other drivers that as I’m licenced for Wyoming for example that I need to pull in to the scale but not actually go inside??

They will tell you on the traffic lights if they want you to go inside, you get a green light then get the hell outa there

Colorado are a bit funny at times, they usually want to see your driver’s licence and insurance, nowhere else even bothers, bit strange out west, Idaho is the only state I’ve been too where the scales are never closed, never ever, no matter how bad the weather, what time of year, they’re wide open :unamused:

You absolutely MUST walk into the building if you enter Wyoming at I25 Cheyenne or and also upon exit at I90 Decker Mont. The only exception is if the “all trucks not requiring permits exit port” lights are flashing.
