Up plating....

Hi lads,
Never done this before, but, what’s the procedure in up-plating from 44t to 50t? Not much use in having a 50t trailer if I can’t get the most out of it :astonished:)

Might be a better place

Or would you not contact your nearest testing station

why would you plate up to 50 tonne just because you have a trailer that can? seems an awful lot of hassle and cost for no benefit 99% of the time

There’s no such thing as a 50T trailer. Hope that helps you.

HTH

Dont forget the increase in road tax to £2,585

I agree with animal I work with fergusons and we have scanner trailers which are 50 tons and get pulled by g440 scanias all plated at stgo 1

CAT 1 is upto 50 tons gross, so it cant be the weight of the trailer on its own or it would put you up to Cat 2 by the time you added the unit

Incase anyone has lost their sanity and wants to prove me wrong by telling me there is this or that abnormal load and they’ve seen 100 tonnes being pulled by an artic etc…
There is like i said, no such thing as a 50 Tonne trailer.
The OP claims to have a 44T outfit. Thats a standard tri axle trailer. There’s also no such thing as a 44 Tonne trailer.
Whats the do with ya’s ? Now go get googlebombing !!!

Under C&U regs there is no such thing as a 50 tonne trailer It simply doesn’t exist- the OP is either a very bad troll or someone who doesn’t understand the difference between design weights and plated weights yes there are tri axle trailers that can go up to 80 tonnes GTW on design weights- and can legally achieve that under STGO regs- but under C&U those weights on the plate mean nothing- someone needs to try harder at trolling cos this is a very poor effort

Lucky for you i’m pointing this stuff out. You where telling him it wasn’t worth it before !!!

Thanks for the replies all, I only asked as I’ve got my eye on a 48tn montracon low loader so there lies the rub… Run 4tn over or, up plate to 48/50tn :astonished:). Simples

Are you saying that when loaded it will be over 44 tonne GTW?
