There are guys on this forum who have done it and have greencards by marriage or by employment so they would know it is very frustrating to deal with these federal government departments when its plain to see there is a need for drivers and there is willing experienced drivers wanting to go to the US.
Some of the posts here, have said department of labor don’t classify drivers as skilled, that is right but the department of labor is answerable to the senators, governors etc who control them, and you convince them that if you need to pass a skills test to get a special license eg. Cdl then you are skilled! and qualify for an EB3 employment based greencard provided you have 2 years experience in that skilled profession.
If a case is put forward to bring overseas drivers to a geographical area where American drivers do not apply for vacant jobs, also the application is supported by local government officials because it is hurting there community economically, and all dol. guidelines are followed you can, and we have been successful in helping drivers get greencards
A bit of advice for what its worth never overstay you I 94 card, this is the card put in your passport that has a date you have to leave the country by, this is very important if you want to apply for change of status etc, you can get an extension if you have a case #

I’ve just landed back home and read the stuff on the forum. USA is great - big trucks, big interstates, big miles. no stuck in hours of traffic jams and its warm!
come home for a break - been working on a H2B visa for last 14 months for 2 different companies and they were both great.
was offered to be sponsored for the greencard and might do that.
both the companies have already sponsored Brits and they are happy as.
I never paid no big agent fees. I got an American CDL no worries.
do it the proper way and you’ll get there.

Im just amazed that anyone is even interested in going to America for 425 quid a week.

You can earn that at any tin pot haulier anywhere. You would probably earn that in Poland

425 quid a week , the advert $850 usd a week is part of the guidelines the dept of labor impose they dont allow cents per mile, it has to show a salary so 2500 miles times .34 cents = $850 usd the bare minimum you would earn. you also have to take into acount the cost of living which is less in the us

And so the more miles you do the less cpm you earn eh . Working for free ■■? great job huh who the hell does 2500 miles a week OTR ■■?

montana man the dot would love you; do you do your log book by counting backwards? Then again it doesn’t matter in your case if you can’t manage 2500 miles a week you wouldn’t be out of hours, maybe you should look for some other profession, and you might be able to afford more than just a tee shirt. A swift newbie could do 2500 miles a week

I think you rather missed his point. He was saying that 2500 miles wasn’t enough. You shouldn’t poke at those who really do know about these things.

I think that is the whole point; there is a lot of misinformation from expats who are in the states, who for some reason don’t want anyone to come over there.
I’ve been jumped on for telling drivers they can go to the states.
I was born in UK, was a 10 quid immigrant to Australia then I moved to the US in the 80’s.
I still drive in the US and Australia, as I said before i work for a recruiting company helping overseas drivers work in the US.

Not at all :unamused: As I have said many times in this thread alone “it is not easy but possible” and you are much better to do it yourself than to pay or get involved with "promise the earth immigration companies / agents / whatever they wish to call themselves this week :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

and as Bob pointed out I was talking about optomistically low 2500 miles

Yes the DOT do love me  Well they have never had a problem with me  and thats running overlength and overweight (on special permit of course) which tends to guarentee more than your fair share of attention at the scales

DING DING NEXT

A swift newbie doing 2500 a week   Do me a favour  Swift drivers struggle to keep em in a straight line let alone “dirty side down”. I pass more on there sides than on there wheels. Oh and one of Swifts trainers came to us for a job so the boss took him on a road test and promptly drove the truck BACK to the yard for him, and threw him out of it

As for the Tshirt crack, lets just say I could afford the T shirt factory sunshine. I work for a real company on real money but hey kudos to you for having to resort to insults when your getting out gunned :unamused:
