Unable to get licence renewal medical

Due to the current situation it seems to be impossible to get a D4 medical appointment in order to renew your licence. Mine expires end of April, hence am starting to panic. Does anyone know if dvla are going to make some sort of exception until the Coronavirus pandemic has passed?

I’d imagine they will it worth a call to DVLA just in case

I got my medical done two weeks ago, one of the last ones D4 did before corona kicked in, sent all the stuff off to dvla and waited patiently for my licence to come back.
Yesterday the dvla returned everything to me because the doctor forgot to tick one box on the medial form. Dvla telling me I’ve got to get the doctor to apply the tick, sign and date the amendment and then I can send it all back to get my licence.
As D4 have basically shut down I’m stuck, no idea when I’ll eventually get my licence now.

Contact DVLA Monday and apply for section 88, under the circumstances they may issue it to you if your licence is soon to expire.

Got my medical due in 3 months, would love to know if anyone has found any solid info in case we’re still locked down in June.

I drive for a major food company and my medical is due mid may, Our transport manager has already been on to the RHA who have been on to the DVLA about suspending medicals due to HGV drivers being key workers at the moment ( ya made me laugh as well) hopefully they will do something like they have done with HGV mots.

I take it that a Section 88 will not apply in my case, HGV runs out 1st May and I have to take a yearly renewal with a treadmill test. No forms have been sent out, therefore I have not technically ‘applied’ to renew.
So, looks like retirement in four weeks is going to be mandatory in my case, which is no big deal. I did a year longer than I intended to anyway.
