Got the chance of double manning to Crete at the end of the month, would anyone have any route information and the pitfalls to look out for?
Pitfalls? Bloody Hot and the ferry might sink, bar that, crack on and take lots of pics!
Double manned ? You’ll spend most of yer time on a boat.
As Turnip remarked…double manned?? Unless you are planning to go down “overland” then presumably you will be using the ferry or ferries so the double manning will only be needed to get you to Ancona, Brindisi or Bari on the east coast of Italy. After that, well, enjoy the weather, the ferry crossings etc. The ferry will take you to Patras or Pireaus where you will have to get another ferry across to Crete. So, as Turnip said, you will be spending most of your time on the boat. Even if you got a ferry across to Igunomitsa on the Greek west coast opposite Corfu I don’t think you would need a double drive to get you across to Pireaus!!!
There are a quite a few on here who have done Greece regularly including one chap (switchlogic) who did a diary of a run to Crete a few years back. Apparently you may struggle to get booked on the ferries at this time of year as well. someone like Harbour shipping should be able to advise you about that.
Anyway, good luck and let us know what you decide. If the trip comes of then take some pics and od a diary for us all on here!
Yammas!!!
Thanks for the advice,I’ve got a week of work and got a chance to do this just for the road trip. If it comes off will take some pics and put a post on here.
Just found switchlogics diary, looks great.

You won’t do it in a week mate. Unless you fly back or summat. Good luck.
Calculated about eleven days but booking two weeks of just in case.
Out of interest, what are you hauling? Exhibition stuff, video shoot, ships supplies? Must be something to require a double man crew to get there!!
Double manned is not essential, as I said I’m only going for the road trip and a bit of a break.
I’d be wanting an air con pod to be double manning to Greece in the summer, or even single manning for that matter…
