Can anyone help and tell me what the speed limit is for trucks in the UK on a motorway? Am confused between the 56 MPH speed limiter setting and the 60 MPH UK law.

Let’s you run down hills a bit quicker while still legal, although a full minute will get you an overspeed infringement on your tacho card.

Can you remove the limiter in a private use 7.5T, say motorhomes or horsebox?
i wish you could, but nope…
although motorhomes are different, if registered as a motorhome, limiters and hgv speed limits dont apply.

No, not least of all because any modification to a vehicle not communicated to an insurer can invalidate the insurance;
but if you have an old vehicle where the limiter was not fitted as standard, you can be, (or at least used to be), exempt from the reduced speed limit. Last time I was offered a job on an unlimited 7.5 tonner was about 2008, so I’m not sure if you’ll find that type of thing still in existence.
