Yep, 1984, Not too fussed about which track etc but I have only managed to find one picture of the truck I am looking for on the net.

So anything would really help

MEL BACON and DAVE GRAY i think drove the lucas cav roadtrain RICHARD WALKER was in the walker of tuxford roadtrain

I wonder who was in the low datum cab lucas roadtrain then, Mel Bacon and Dave Gray were in the high datum I think, according to an article I read.

Mike, Mel Bacon had the High Datum Cab “Gerty” & Dave Grey had a low Datum Roadtrian called “Flo” also in union jack livery

I think a Roadtrain was raced in one of the early Donington events which normally pulled the Williams F1 team transporter.

Some great pics there!

They will definately help layout the colour scheme for my Raodtrain.

If you can find any of Gerties sister truck Flo that would be excellent as the livery was slightly different.

Many thanks again for the great pics!

Mike

you modelling the roadtrain mickey?

Ive got a copy of truck racing by Mike Key, thats got a few pics of what you want in I#ll have to get them scanned if you want them

Nope, I have an actual roadtrain and I want to replicate the colour scheme when it gets its new paint job

Aforementioned truck is apparently for sale in the August Classic and Vintage Commercial mag, no tax mot, looking a bit rough, no price just offers.

Mike

I went there 83/84 I think it may have been the first race there, I do have some pics somewhere, I’ll try and find them, may take a while.

Racing Roadtrain A776 HHG aka “Gertie” seems to currently belong to the Minato motorsports team.

Happened to catch “Trucking Havoc” last night on men and motors. Had loads of crashes and spills from mid 80’s to mid 90’s (first broadcast 1996).

It had loads of great moments with the old Leylands having a spin, and some ford Cargo’s bashing each other to bits

Shall have to see if youtube or somewhere has it its great, Richard Walker getting it all to ■■■■ was funny.

And the truck was indeed called “Gert”. The high datum was called Flo and I seem to remember and was actually registered as an “austin princess”! She also won the LeMans 24 hour race for trucks in the mid eighties!
