As most of you know I start with tesco on Monday but just before I finished I was asked by management if Tesco allows it would i be prepared to do the odd day still for them?
Obviously it depends on driving hours, but what’s the legal I implications?
Given the size of Tesco and the way they operate I’d say you’ll have an exclusive employment clause in your contract. Probably best just to do your bit for Tesco and enjoy your days off. I’m thinking if something happened whilst you were doing a bit for your old firm, (an accident or injury for example) Tesco would take a very dim view of it.
By the way, best of luck with the new job
In a word, NO. Not being funny but you’ll also come across as being a bit soft if you even ask Tesco. Just sayin’.

It wasn’t truck driving at the old firm, it was coach driving but can’t hurt to ask…
It won’t be often anyway, things like emergency rail replacement at night (ill be working nights again)…
Personally I wouldn’t push it, some tm’s are easily offended, have a short fuse and could easily tell you to shove it. Especially as though you haven’t done your 1st shift yet.
If you want to work for Tesco work for them, if not ask them the question.
Don’t mess them about, and don’t even mention it.If you’re lucky enough to max your hours,I would presume the money would be good, and you’ve got no driving time left.If you’re not on maximum hours, and your main employer decides you’re a good lad and offers some extra hours, and you say ‘Err,well I’m actually working for someone else just now’. Would not go down well!
What you do in YOUR TIME is YOUR BUSINESS… Tescos dont pay you when you’re sat at home and doing nothing. However, if you do something in your time that effects your ability to start your shift at Tescos (ie you maxed out your hours and can’t drive when you’re due on shift at Tescos) they wont be very happy and would have ground for dismissal.

I bet its not , and hell losing your job for a few quid because you ■■■■■■ them off in a probation period seems crazy to me.
Mad to ask , they will think its your escape route if the job doesnt work out.
And with all that Tesco dosh he will be on dirty weekends in Paris when off !
All the best in your new job…

Only if he uses a digi for the coach work.

pimpdaddy I’m impressed, no tesco knocking in a tesco thread
OP I wouldn’t ask about working elsewhere on your time off, don’t think it would be looked on too kindly by most firms. nights is full as far as I’m aware, I know of a few lads on days who were supposed to be doing nights but are waiting for a slot to come up.
When I used to drive buses I wasn’t allowed to drive any other large vehicles in my time off. Only exemption was an assessment, but any other jobs were NO NO
I say start at Tesco for a month or so, then if the chance comes up to do some casual driving and you have the time left in the working week, go drive a coach. You could almost consider it a “hobby”.
I worked like that for a couple of years, doing something different on my time off was great.
Cheers

I think I’m correct in saying even if he didn’t use a digi for both he’d be obliged to hand them / keep his last working day to provide a correct reflection of his driving hours.
Can’t see Tesco being too chuffed when they are managing the hours you work for them and you go and max out with another firms help.
If you don’t tell Tesco and (God forbid) you have an accident plod wil be all over you like a cheap suit.
Well duh, if its Digi then no if its wax then frisby it & don’t have a fatal rta…

I’ve got the 18:30 shift
are you trying to get the worlds largest CV?
you change jobs that often, we can hardly keep up where you are working from one week to the next, and now you want 2 jobs?
send off for another digi card and ask boss number 2 to pay cash.
