Twin Deck Car Transporter

Hi,

Thinking of buying a Isuzu N75/190 twin deck transporter.

I don’t have experience in these type of vehicles as I just use v6/v8 4x4’s with trailer to transport cars.

What I m asking is are they any good it is a 12reg so has done some miles.

What are the 5litre Volvo engines like?

Any thing they are known for going wrong with?

In process of getting op licence/transport manager course etc for this type of vehicle.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Top issue is that if it’s not a Euro VI engine you might end up paying lots of CAZ charges. And a 12 reg could only have a Euro VI if it had had an engine replacement as the VI’s only came in from 2015 onwards

No experience myself, but here is a thread from a few years ago.

One interesting comment there I think, since you are going to need O-Licence etc etc, is there much advantage in sticking to 7.5T? Going to 12T will make weights much easier to manage, and give more choice of vehicle.
Just a thought, not advice as such.

Isuzu is to trucks, what Toyota is to cars. Soulless, boring but ultra reliable.

I’ve driven Isuzu N75 but it was much newer, a 69 plate. The low down cab is fairly basic but its good for urban stuff, being lower. The gearbox (auto) is good to, at least from a driving point-of-view. The radio was terrible but I think it was a weird dual-DIN aftermarket thing.

I’d not fancy regular long distances in it but I guess if you don’t have the choice or budget for something better…
