Trying to make that move

So I’m trying to break away from Co op but finding it hard trying to match the money or even come close, is that why they pay better then most to stop you from leaving? I don’t fancy tramping just yet maybe the odd night out as that’s what I’ve done working for the co op as I have a new baby boy on the way in 7 weeks I’m fed up of working weekends doing ■■■■■■ shop delivery’s. I’m trying to get on for frontier as they are only a 2min walk from my door and I fancy doing bulk work…

I’m starting to get the blah feeling before going to work… Must be time for a change.

Where you based mate!? Some frontier drivers are out all week and others are just odd nights. The bulk game isn’t for everyone. Do you want to be sat on a stinking cow farm in winter when it’s pitch black and pouring with rain, trying to tip Trafford gold that won’t budge?! I’m a farmers lad so it suits me perfect but others dont take to it that well!!

Im in Andover i drive past the frontier yard every day on my way to work and in the evening there is always one or two parked up i dont mind the odd night a week, I’m a country lad got no problems being stuck in the middle of nowhere on a farm.

Maybe shop deliveries don’t suit everyone, i always tried to see the good points about any job i did, whatever you do don’t be too hasty about giving up a secure full time job these days.

New baby due in 7 weeks? C+E since August 2012? Employer a French fella?

Shop deliveries, well we all have to start somewhere!

Employers are usually more flexible when you have been there sometime when it comes to time off after the birth and if you need to change a shift to get to baby clinic on a Wednesday afternoon. Trust me on that one!

like xfmatt says, do you really want to be on stinking farm in the dark and rain with Mrs Dan on the phone wanting you home because the little guy is teething or that you have missed bath and bedtime three times this week. Transport Managers don’t want a driver coming into the yard at six o’clock saying “I got to get home for my son’s bedtime, someone else will have to do it” when the load you have got is for delivery an hour ago. Trust me, I have seen both happen!

I admire your ambition to get away from weekend working for Monday to Friday to have regular Saturday and Sundays with your family. Personally, I would get a few more months experience on C+E motors Coop’s expense to lets say this Christmas to get you roughly in the 2 years experience bracket. In the meantime attempt to have a chat with Frontier drivers, get an idea of what the job entails, pay, hours, get a contact name and number then ring up. And trust me on that one!

Good luck.
Beanie.

Good Luck.

You could try Howard tenens, they have a depot there.

I worked at co-op mate got made redundant in may this year and trust me you wont find those wages for a genuine 48hr average anywhere else unless you are specialised in a certain type of driving!

£14ph they were on at Nottingham

Try Earthline they have tips in the Andover area. Run day and sleeper cabbed rigids and artics.

Your very right in all 3…ha He will be my 2nd son cant wait to meet the little fella. I know we all have to start somewhere i know im getting ahead of myself so to speak but I’m a firm believer in you have to do what makes you happy or your just get in a rut and wont get out, and thats what im afraid of not being able to get out…

Yes i work to look after my Wife and son soon to be sons but I’ve gotta be happy right? I’ve always said i wont be here forever just to see me though my learning curve days and get some good experience under my belt and id say driving for the co op is good experience some of the place you have to put these lorries is a joke, but ho hey its all good learning. like i said running before i can walk so to speak.
