Truckstop books etc

Quite often I get put on 2 day runs, all our work is multidrop and I never really know where I’m going to be until the evening anyway.

I have the philips truckers roadmap 2013 which has a fair amount of truckstops, but most are far between and too far out the way to be justified to the office. A few people I’ve spoken to have mentioned that they have a truckstop book. The only other way I can think is to find a place on my phone which often doesn’t have a web connection. I’ve a snooper satnav with “TSPlus Truckstops”, still not great coverage though. Is this coverage as sparse as I’m thinking or are places to spend the night really this spare?

How does everybody else find a place to overnight away from a layby, and could anybody recommend a book of places?

This subject has probably been done to death in the past but I couldn’t find anything in a brief search of the forums.

There is a list of truckstops in the free Truckstop nrws paper and lidts the post code for them, the popular ones are Lincoln farm The Hollies The Red Lion Heywood truckstop Penrith and Carlisle Lymn Avonlodge The Hideway Junction 26 Lockerbie Bridgrwater cattle market Crewe.

Didn’t get around to replying earlier unfortunately. Presumably this is the one you’re talking about? truckingmag.co.uk/truckstopnews I’ll have to see if I can get a copy somewhere, it looks quite useful
