Trucks making rolling roadblocks at roadworks

It’s an irritating and idiotic manovure by people who childishly can’t stand anyone getting in front of them. Ever heard of or know the meaning of ‘merge in turn’? It’s what’s suppose to happen.

What a [ zb], yes we just sit back and let all the cars force there way to the front of the q…THINK NOT YOU CLOWN

You seem like a plesant and articulate chap! It’s only in the queue obsessed UK this is an issue. In Europe and the US in my experience everybody uses the lanes up to the cones and everything works fine.

Thanks though for your post, it illustrates perfectly the childishness I was talking about.

Have a nice day

it may be because i have been up since 1am but i cant picture visually in my head what these 2 tanker drivers were doing   , could someone expain in laymans terms     for me, cheers

Usually people get in the correct lane early when there is a lane closure, that means there is a lane with a queue in and and empty one, some vehicles then go up the empty lane and skip the queue and push there way in at the front. These tanker drivers obviously blocked the lane to stop vehicles driving up it to push in at the front of the queue.

right i see, cheers for that :grimacing: :grimacing: , but what about this bit

Mr B:
I was watching them in my rear view mirror with a smile on my face and hoped they’d make it to the cones before I did so I could let them in. Yes they made it and I flashed em in but didn’t get a thank you

she watched them in her rear view mirror but then flashed them in   sorry i’ve lost all of my imagination power tonight :exclamation: :exclamation:

she was ahead of them but they overtook her because she was in the queue and they were not, they were in the empty lane so when they overtook her she flashed em in.

I am absolutely amazed at the amount of “professional” drivers who appear never to have read Rule 134 of the Highway Code.

You are supposed to use both lanes right up to the cones. Doing anything else simply elongates the queue and causes problems for motorists further back who are attempting to leave the motorway at a previous exit.

As soon as I see the sign ‘Roadworks two miles’ I dive into the left lane as i enjoy the feeling of queuing and knowing my place. It just annoys me that having joined several other likeminded individuals in the left-hand lane, I have to watch as some selfish people have the nerve to use the two miles of empty road as if they have paid for it and as if they aren’t actually meant to move over for…oh I don’t know, two miles?! You would think that the people closing the road would tell people to get over immediately wouldn’t you?

In fairness, the Government could put short information films on the telly about it on Sunday afternoons, like they did when they brought in the decimal money. At least a few more simpletons might understand a very simple principle.

I’m sure ROG did a question/poll on this sort of scenario a few moons ago   and the answer i gave him was i would use all road avalible to me, if i was in lane 2 and saw the signs that road was 1 lane in 2 miles etc etc and i was going faster than traffic in lane 1, i would stay in that lane and then merge in turn when coming up to the yards signs indicate, and say to my self aimed at the car drivers in lane one while indicating “moooooove it or loose it pal:laughing:

but why not, the road is there - use it, why merge at 2 mile warning  why not merge at the 3/4/5/6/7/8 mile warning signs  :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

I can translate this one for free

I see that user bedgar047 is really excited with this subject. I recieved a private message from him, which I can guess from a title is related to this thread. I can’t quote it here, as it would not be fair, but there is plenty of abuse, [zb]'s, accusations that all my stories I share with you are made up and NOT A SINGLE ARGUMENT I can discuss with in the subject of this thread.

My proposition is to ignore his presence in this thread before you will recieve some nice pms as well… or maybe I am the choosen one, becouse I am Polish? Let’s check this PM again… hm hm “■■■■ off to Poland”… hm hm “You are taking benefits here”… hm hm … Yes. Obviously I am the chosen one. Then forget what I said here :grimacing: :grimacing:

Yes, This was discussed some time ago and it was generally agreed that all the tarmac space should be used.
The other main point of that discussion was the manner of the merging in driver.
The driver who passes the other lane at speed, brakes, then tries to force in :imp: is far different from the driver who gently cruises by those in the other lane, eases off gently with a long ‘intention’ signal given and then WAITS for the ‘invite’

ROG:

And me - never had a conflict situation develop in all the years I’ve been driving by doing it that way.

Agree. Never and nowhere. Sometimes I was blocked (few times in Poland, couple of times here… and nowhere else. Even in the “wild countries” like Turkey or Bulgaria or Serbia. )

This is not about merging at the cones, there is plenty of warning about what lane is closed etc…

Its more about the ■■■■ you jack im alright poor driving standards that are in this Country now, some parts of the country its worse than others, in Wales there still seems to be some decent standards, people merge in early, the traffic in most cases flows freely…

Cant believe the posts from some of you, do you really hold HGv licenses■■?

I’m sorry Coddy but I fail to see your point - could you expand please as I must be a bit thick this evening…

Couldn’t agree more, morons who behave like that only prove that they’re not responsible or adult enough to be driving large vehicles.

i disagree, why should i join the back of a que where the signs are telling you to merge, only to watch an endless number of selfish, impatient, im more inportant than you ignorant [zb] drive to the front and expect to be let in the que. you should join ques at the back as people do in shops, i take great pleasure in holding up the [zb]. yes i have heard of merge in turn it means as it says ‘in turn’, not drive past however many vehicles you wish and then try joining the que at the front.

That’s brings my example again: so if you are in Tescos, do you pick the till where is the longest queue to do not be a [zb] who jumps over them using other till, when less people with half empty carts are waiting?

Another question:
what is this sign for:

and what about this:
