TruckNet UK home page, inapropriate adds?

The Google adds were removed from the forums because it was felt inapropriate for Pathways adds to be there, fair enough.
But why is there a link to a blatantly dishonest Pathways add on the front page in the Google adds :open_mouth:

Is this an oversight ?

Extract from the Pathways add linked to from the TruckNet UK home page:

HGV Driving - Why should you consider a career as an HGV driver?

Look at employment ads; too many good jobs require months or years of expensive education and training just to qualify. Now look at the Pathway graduates who filled many of the 80,000 outstanding driving jobs; they qualified for these high paying jobs by spending just five days in training with us.

With a new career in HGV driving just imagine some of the benefits you too will enjoy and savour. Here’s a list of just some of the benefits:

  • You’ll get real Job Security: One of the few jobs left where life long Job Security is a reality.

  • You can earn a High Income: As a qualified driver you can take home ÂŁ420-ÂŁ600 a WEEK. You’ll quickly change your lifestyle and start enjoying the good things in life.

  • You can retire early: You may be able to retire early and in comfort with a secure pension.

  • You’ll enjoy company perks: you’ll benefit from a great company pension scheme, up to 25 days holiday per year, medical insurance and lots more.

  • Freedom at work: With a career in HGV Driving you will enjoy flexible hours. You can work where you want and when you want, evenings, weekends, nine to five, it’s your call.

  • Excellent career progression: You’ll enjoy a career not just a job. With increasing experience you can take your career to more senior and higher paid positions. Its your choice!

Why is now the best time to start your new career?

Its hard to believe but there are currently far more jobs than drivers. Employers are literally crying out for HGV drivers. Take a look at these industry facts!

  • There are currently well over 80,000 well paid vacancies for qualified HGV drivers in the UK alone.

  • 60% of all road haulage companies are struggling to fill vacancies.

  • The top 100 biggest companies are suffering even more with 72% having a severe shortage of drivers.

  • The shortage is so severe that industry authorities now agree that it could lead to problems in the supply of vital goods and services across the country. UK businesses stand to lose up to ÂŁ1 billion.

Experts agree that the severe shortage is here to stay and will continue to worsen in the near future.

I meet them everyday, the poor unfortunates who have fallen for the biggest lie in transport, there isn’t a shortage of drivers, there is a massive glut of lorries.

Not only there, but on the bottom of the page of Truck & Driver Jobs! Also on there is Direct LGV as well! :-

these ads should be removed from any site and banned.

That page is not part of TruckNet UK, it is the drivers landing page on RT.com which we are “borrowing” as a front page for a while.
The ads on RT.com are not controlled by TruckNet, If you have concerns about those ads I suggest you use the contact form on RT.com to contact the editor of that website.

And therein lies the problem. The punter on the Clapham omnibus reads the Daily Blurb, sees an advert that they can train to be a truck driver within 5 days and earn 35 - 40k driving a fuel tanker. They then surf the web and come across TruckNet UK and read the truth about these companies.

They then read the trade press like Commercial Motor, Motor Transport and road transport.com and decide that TNUK is just a whingeing bunch of drivers, where in reality we are the true barometer of feeling in the transport industry.

Commercial Motor have been carrying adverts for transport consultants for years, the same consultants that are so frowned upon by the TC.

But we all have to make a living, and if advertising is your forte then look out for this months special offer.

Grandparent for sale!

Those ads on RT.com are served up by Google ads, The companies concerned are not customers of RT.com. RT.com supplies space on the webpage and Google detects the content and places ads it thinks are relevant

because those are the 2 entities that can make changes, we cant, we did make the only change WE could and removed those ads from the forums. As we couldnt get those specific companies that were causing concerns removed from the Google ads, we removed all the Google ads completly, That means we also lost many relevant ads that wouldnt cause any problems and taking a small financial hit to do so. We done our bit, heard the concerns raised and took action.

Previously I contacted Google and they were what could only be described as ‘unhelpful’ - after all the particular companies as I understand it pay google, so they are hardly going to refuse customers.

Thanks for you reply Rikki and I do intend to contact RT.com and express my concerns. I do feel that the only way to stop some of these adverts would be to get the Advertising Standards Authority to take an interest in the spurious claims of their adverts - I’ll look into that as well.

Thanks for that Rikki and yes I will be writing, as far as getting some funds in why don’t we all get together to discuss what we briefly spoke about at truckfest.
