Just for a bit of fun…
Following on from the Carryfast’s Jag thread, where he was challenged to put a pic of himself with his Jag…I had a mad idea.
How many of you are brave enough to put a face to the name, putting a pic up…as I said, just for a bit of fun you understand, I aint collecting pics of butch truckers…honest guv.)
I find that like seeing DJs and presenters that you listen to on the radio, or meet somebody you have only spoken to on the phone, how different they are to how you imagine.
So who is ganna be first? , …
And who knows?, …we could go a step further with a ‘Reader’s Wives’ section… (or husband even, I won’t judge.)
Who has the self confidedence…to take the challenge.
Who looks like Stallone.
Who looks like Charles Hawrtey?
Same or similar happrned to me mate, between my top lip and cheek a couple of years ago.
A few weeks later a crown I had in for about 20+ years started to slacken.
Ended up paying 3 grand for a kin dental implant.
Trouble is I didn’t report it so no leg to stand on (or tooth) for any compo.
I love music but can not play a note.
I know abso Jack about bass guitars, but I was always impressed with Level 42’s Mark King and his style…‘Slapbass’ ?
And John Deacon of Queen especially on ‘The invisible man’…and of course Brian May on lead.
I had the chance to learn the guitar at school but did not take it up to my eternal regret.
I spent a lot of time with bands when I was DJ ing at a holiday camp in another life…and I enjoyed the partying, there was some wild guys anong them, and some wild nights… with their ‘fans’.
Do you play in a band at all?
Btw why aint you giving that cat any credit for it’s vocals…it did a great Freddie.
Cheers RobRoy, Mark King is way above my paygrade, I’ve tried his slap-bass technique umpteem times but never got anywhere near to getting it down.
I picked up playing guitar late in life & got into bass guitar because of Macca & being a life-long Beatles fan.
Bass lines like Mark King, John Entwhistle’s My Generation & Macca’a bass line on Something were just out of this world so I had to get that bass line learned.
I joined some guitar forums & met guys from all over the world, USA, Canada, Australia, Yorkshire & we started a virtual band, ‘the beer bellies’
LOL she will sit next to you all day long whilst I’m playing guitar but will scarper when I try the mouth-organ, I bought one to learn John Lennons playing in Love love me do & they go nuts & run
I ain’t got the lungs for that.
I play bass in a covers band covering The Beatles, The Jam, Oasis, The Who etc and also love Macca’s basslines. We cover My Generation and although it sounds more like Oasis than The Who, the bassline in that is one of my favourites!
Here is my mugshot from a recent gig. I have an Epiphone Viola as I’m too tight to buy a Hofner
Thanks Goff118, That Hofner of mine is the cheaper Ignition series. I bought it used off ebay & the chap lived just around the corner from Lennon’s childhood home on Menlove ave.
That’s a great on-stage pic, I never had the bottle to play live.
Ah wow, awesome. I grew up with my father listening to the Beatles so have always loved them. The Magical Mystery Tour bus they do in Liverpool is well worth a visit if you haven’t already done it.
We gig around the pubs and clubs here in the South Wales valleys and usually the crowd are too drunk to know what mistakes we are making!
LOL That took me weeks to get down & I can’t remember how many takes it took to get right for the song we did, as soon the red light on the camera comes on you seem to forget everything & fumble notes.
I’ll dig that vid out, Aaron was on vocals for that, it’s on my other channel.
I don’t do photography so you’ll have to make do with a description.
Picture in your mind a long retired old lorry driver who is fat, bald, and s exy as hell. That’ll be me.
Yeah I did the Magical Mystery tour, I put a thread up on here in fact.
We also went to the Cavern Club and Rubber Soul bars.
A lot of good bands and soloists there doing Beatles covers, including a guy who actually looked like a young John Lennon who me and the wife got talking to, and I bought him a pint.
Worth a look there for a weekend if you are a Beatles fan like me.
