Hi all.
I’m off to Florida next week, would like to, if possible, get a better insight into trucking in the USA.
Is there anyone on here, who lives/works in Florida?
If not, can anyone suggest some companies, that may let me visit and give me a guided tour.
A bit of a long shot, I know.
thanks in advance.
John
Big companies that MAY let you take a look round are people like SWIFT and JB Hunt, also CR England. They are also known as the CDL mill companies… they are renowned for taking in new drivers and abusing them for the year or so before they quit in disgust.
If you want to look round a truck, then go hang out at a truckstop on the interstates. Any big service station will have a truck park. Go find a friendly trucker and buy him a coffee/lunch and get talking. Info straight from the horse’s mouth is most valuable, as you know.
Truckers over there are just like the ones back here. Complaining is a job requirement. Just see what he’s complaining about. If it’s low pay by industry standards or poor vehicle maintenance , then you know to avoid them…
