Good grief. TOF Transport. Thomas’s of Flecknoe…

I used to meet a lot of EM Rogers’ drivers between Calais and All Points South. They always seemed very cheery. Not sure if it was due to the job, the wages or the huge quantity of drugs…

Richmond, I don’t suppose you have any pics of Lambert International?

I have to show this off. You remember my favourite old Transcon?

A few weeks ago I was asked to do a computer job for a friend’s stepfather. The man is in his 80s and although the job was complex ish and time consuming I didn’t ask him for any money and left it at that.

Anyway it turns out that this chap is a fairly well known artist (in the north east anyway) and my friend smuggled a photo to him. So a couple of days ago I was presented with this…

Viks?

Taken about 1988 at Clauds @ St Genis, my F12 on the right and Derek Harts F10 both loaded with skins for Vic, we often weekended there, normally only on the way down!!

Ross.

Ross, you mention Derek Hart, I worked with a Derek Hart on Solstor in 90/91ish, he had come off Falcongate IIRC, same bloke?

ETA. Is that old F12 of yours an ex Kammac motor?

That’s the bloke, I worked with Derek some years earlier at a ships stores company in Liverpool, (also Ronnie Royle) right after he jacked in as an owner driver he went to work for Solstor. I bumped into him & Margret a couple of years ago in Morrisons, he’s driving for a supermarket these days, Asda I think?

Yes, my F12 was an ex Kammac motor, it was very high geared and proved to be a fantastic truck that never let me down, it’s a shame the F10 wasn’t a bit more like that for Derek!!

Ross.

would i be correct in saying thats carisio

Sorry no the photo was taken in Spain but I can no longer remember where. I’m pretty sure it was somewhere in the Miranda de Ebro/Logrono area but thats about it.

Might have to employ some of my ‘where am I’ black magic.

Lone Wolf
That is a great painting. I believe that it is outside Victors at Burgos.
I remember seeing that Transcon abandoned in Istanbul in about 1990 !!
It had Shu Shu Baby written on it.

Thats wot i said -Viks?

No I remember taking the photo. And have actually performed some more black magic. I give you the Hotel Guria on the Miranda road out of Vitoria. Today a backwater off a dual carriageway. Heres the original photo taken in around 1989…

You know what, that was a seriously scary thing to do. I didn’t think for a minute I’d find it again, but thanks to google maps.

In the photo it’s clear it couldn’t have been Victors as the building is too close to the road, this wasn’t obvious in the fabulous painting.

Ross.

Lonewolf Yorks:

There was a very similar Transcon abandoned in Calais around that time (89) it had ‘The shed’ hand painted on it.
