I went to the first ever truckfest when i was a nipper, ive been goin on and off ever since,i went last year to peterboro and newark and after about 2 hours all the lines of trucks looked the same ,dinner time i was ready for home i couldnt spend a full day looking at lorrys now,the only ones that stuck out are the ones when you first walk in and the ones who get the best parking on the corners, the rest just seem to blend in and make up the numbers, exspensive aswell with petrol and food :unamused:

So the monster trucks crushing cars don’t entertain you then? You also couldn’t be arsed to meet such famous stars as that bird off Eastenders or that ■■■■■■ from something else?

So how come you know the drill if you dislike trucks / truck fest so much ?

I used to go that’s why. What’s with the crap celebs anyway?

Its truckfest pal not the brit awards

i dont understand why you started a thread just to run it down and the people that attend ?

perhaps we could start a more intresting one like how many loads of muck you moved in your 8wheeler from one site to another ?

or why day cab tipper drivers put a frilly pelmet up

I can never understand how Live Promotions and any others who promote these shows can persuade so many vehicle owners to pay to display their trucks if they all got together and refused one year would be all it would take you can rest assured they would be in for free the next year as no trucks no show.
I went to Edinburgh one year and Peterborough once a few years later and vowed I wouldn’t bother again. Eddie.

I agree why should you have to pay to show your truck when people are paying to look at it,surely theres enough money with people who go on foot or camp, you taking your truck is doing them the favour,no trucks no show, simples. :unamused: :unamused:

Simple; It’s to pay for such celebrities like him from Essex, her from that, ■■■■■■ Traffic and someone else crap like Will Mellor.

How much do theses people charge  when you think about how many trucks, stalls and people who go on foot all pay to go in ,its hell of alot of money over the 2 days ,somebodys laughing :unamused: :unamused:

Each to their own. I like going, it gives me a chance to meet up with friends past and present. If the boss gives me a truck to take, it makes it a cheap weekend. It’s a hobby as much as a job to me. One of our drivers just spent £700 on some fishing reels. His money, his choice. Sitting on a river bank doesn’t float my boat. Don’t knock him though. I used to like doing the car shows. Detailing is my thing, but can’t afford and don’t have room for a show car, so truckfest fills a void

As you say bud each to his own and everybodys different, fair play.

Don’t get the hobby/job bit, as you usually find that a lot of bosses tend to take full advantage of this to the detriment of the driver.
The difference between your mate spending £700 on his reels/car/house/wife/bit on the side etc, is that all of these are HIS, not some [zb] else’s, who should be spending his own money on such items, but is more than willing to sit back and laugh his ■■■■ off at the driver that does it for him :bulb: (That’s a fact, I was talking to a well known show fleet owner in a pub on a Sunday lunch, he told me with a cynical grin, he had 3 drivers on Sunday runners to pay for their spotlights, as he had stopped fitting them himself)…I wonder why :unamused:

Not knocking Truckfest fans, just making a point about some “hobby” drivers that are evidently a bit slow on the uptake.

I am far from being “slow on the uptake” and my boss pays for all my polish, curtains, trims, light bars and everything else on my truck, apart from a table, tv and a mirror that I bought. As he does with all our motors. And I polish it in his time, not mine, same as all our drivers. He classes it as part of the job and pays for it. My weekends are my own and always will be

I’ve booked and printed the tickets for our once a decade trip to Truckfest, My oldest boy is nearly 17, and he was 6 or 7 last time we went.

We’ll be the mugs paying to go and look at Trucks, as some would see it, Personaly, the Mrs and kids are mega excited at going to Truckfest, I reckon that will make for a great day out. The littlest one is nearly 4 years old and truck mad, so roll on Sunday, :sunglasses:

Does Trucknet have a stand, if so I might give you a look.

Ps the alternative was to returf the back garden :open_mouth: what would you do

eddie snax:

We will be there all weekend alongside our colleagues at T&D and Commercial Motor - stand number and position to be confirmed

Looks like nobody is going to tell us Seth how much they pay now to enter their truck 9yrs ago it was £35 so it can be assumed it will be a wee bit dearer now. Eddie.

a truck entry for Peterborough is £40

for that, you can arrive on the friday and leave on the monday

the driver gets full english breakfast on sunday and monday

all the evening entertainment, light show and firework display

if you go as a paying visitor, it will cost more than that for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids for one day

Personally i still think it should be free to take your truck, end of the day thats what the public are paying to see and there is hell of alot of people that go to truckfest,im not calling truckfest one bit if i had a truck worth showing i would take it,its just my thoughts on the matter , :unamused:

I was on Skype last night talking to an old friend who worked for a a well known SW Scotland company ,well his son now drives for them (the truck is on a 3yr lease type thing).Well the boy fitted a light bar (he bought)plus other lighty stuff, when i say fitted i mean he paid the maintenance company /has to pay to remove at end of lease .
What made us both laugh was when he takes the truck to the big Scottish show ,edinburgh?, he has to drop his trailer at the glasgow depot on the friday night and pay for the fuel to the show and back!!! ready for work on Monday early ,not a cheap weekend we thought,.
The younger generation  :unamused: hehe at his age all my mate and myself were thinking o were wimen and a brew and tae get away from our motors at the weekend.
jimmy

Well mine’s not of Truckfest standard; That’s the official view of a colleague who I caught nosing around in my cab this afternoon. He wasn’t impressed that my cab was dusty. Perhaps I should be like him and buy an All Ride steering wheel cover and steering knob.

Its £36 + £5.95 booking fee for a family ticket pre booked, that is for 2 adults and 2 children between 5-15, under 5’s are free.

I’ve paid £56.95 for 3 adults(the eldest boy the Mrs and Me) and 1 paying child, + my youngest is 3 so will get for free. and my family seem to be more excited than Me :sunglasses:

To be honest thats the going rate for a day at an attraction for a family, the gates open at 9 so you can make a full day off it

I dont understand why people knock it, if you dont like it dont go. simple realy :unamused:

Free cup of tea? Might change my mind then…

It’s free entry for classic owners but obviously there’s still the cost of diesel to factor in. Undecided at the moment whether I will grace the showground with the Eminox/L10 combo but if I do there’s never any danger of going near the ring to see Joey Sussex or whoever. Normally to be found trying to get free hospitality out of DAF and Volvo due to the day job.

Now…for a proper day out hit Newark Showground on Sunday 25th May for the Great North Road Transport Show. There’s one I don’t mind shelling out on diesel for. Hundreds of classics, all the makes you can think of.

You going? What motor you taking Marc?

oh and if your going on your tod … ring LP and ask for a single camp ticket. It’s not publicised that they do one for obvious reasons
