£18? Are the organisers dressing up as highwaymen too?
I only went to truckfest once in 1993 that was enough ,ERF were celebrating 60 years ,lorries were individual then ,not rows and rows of foreign motors with kelsa bars and cheapo wheel trims and cabs wrapped in plastic like now .

Each to their own. I like going, it gives me a chance to meet up with friends past and present. If the boss gives me a truck to take, it makes it a cheap weekend. It’s a hobby as much as a job to me. One of our drivers just spent £700 on some fishing reels. His money, his choice. Sitting on a river bank doesn’t float my boat. Don’t knock him though. I used to like doing the car shows. Detailing is my thing, but can’t afford and don’t have room for a show car, so truckfest fills a void
As you say bud each to his own and everybodys different, fair play.
Don’t get the hobby/job bit, as you usually find that a lot of bosses tend to take full advantage of this to the detriment of the driver.
The difference between your mate spending £700 on his reels/car/house/wife/bit on the side etc, is that all of these are HIS, not some ■■■■■■■ else’s, who should be spending his own money on such items, but is more than willing to sit back and laugh his ■■■■ off at the driver that does it for him (That’s a fact, I was talking to a well known show fleet owner in a pub on a Sunday lunch, he told me with a cynical grin, he had 3 drivers on Sunday runners to pay for their spotlights, as he had stopped fitting them himself)…I wonder why
Not knocking Truckfest fans, just making a point about some “hobby” drivers that are evidently a bit slow on the uptake.
Have you seen the price of them light bars or anything else to put on a lorry after you have bought it,how does any married man or somebody who lives with someone get away with spending such money on a lorry ,my ex wife would have gone barmy

That is what the guy in the pub said, as he knew that I knew one of the said drivers “For Christ’s sake dont tell his Mrs”
