so there was i looking through some sites fancied a laugh when i came across this site http://www.thetruckersreport.com/ ( dont know if trucknet will delete the link) but anyway i was looking for trucking jokes when i thought ill read the poems and this one just brought it all down to earth…considering 10 people die on the roads of Briain EVERY day some of them truckers most of them not it brought a little tear to my eye…cos im soft inside you see…
Prayer Of A Trucker’s Wife
Lord, bless this driver that I love
Watch and guide him from up above
Up all night to deliver a load
Keep him safe on that old road
Be his eyes, ears, and hands
Reflexes quick for things unplanned
In a world where troubles abound
Bring him home safe and sound
He’s my other half, you see
The one you made just for me
So, Father, hear this prayer that I pray
Please protect him while he’s away.
Amen
And then i read a few more…
They Know Me
The truckers know me, as the Troubled Angel you see.
We talk of many things, as I drive on with gilded wings.
The white van I drive, with them safely arrive.
Though only a couple hundred miles I go,
On the road with Ice and snow. When all is quiet,
sometimes I would like to start a riot.
The trip seems so long, til a trucker comes along.
To my sickly little boy, they always bring smiles of joy.

A Truck Drivers Wife
People often ask me,
How do you get thru?
You live your life alone,
And it is only you.
That is where they are wrong,
I don’t live my life alone,
I just live a lot of it,
By the ringing of the telephone.
I know how to handle things,
That most people couldn’t,
I even have had to handle the things,
My husband thinks I shouldn’t.
No I don’t live in a mansion,
But I do have everything,
I have a wonderful family,
And a husband who thinks I’m his queen.
Do I miss him while he’s out?
Every second I’m awake.
There are nights I go to bed,
Thinking how much more can I take?
I often go in circles,
Trying to handle things each day,
But being a truck drivers wife,
That is the price I have to pay.
I have the kids to raise,
And the paperwork to go through,
Then he calls and tells me,
That Diesel prices are going up again too.
He might have to take an extra load,
To make up the difference in the pay.
So he might just not make it home,
For just another day.
So tell me how many men,
Would sacrifice their life.
That is why I am proud,
To be a truck drivers wife!!
And read some more…
Truck Driver Son
He’s my son and a truck driver at that
I’ve never told him how proud I am in fact
He always says drivers get a bad rap
But they’re not all the same believe me of that
Lots of guys are out there just to try to earn
To give their family what they think they deserve
Granted a lot fool around and such
But I can say he loves him family so much
It isn’t really easy to far away
And missing your loved ones everyday
But driving’s in his blood and he does it so well
He always comes home with a tale to tell
We all miss him and wait for a call each night
Just to know he is fine and things are alright
So drive if you must be be sure of this
You are very loved and always missed
…
Dreaming Of You
I wished that I could float away into your arms tonight,
being a trucker’s mate is so hard to be-but to be with you when I can,
I guess, I just have to dream of you until then.
For when I hear that big truck now, I won’t cringe at the sound,
for it will be coming and not going away from me.
Just to hear that big diesel and the air release and it jek into a still
position and see you climb out will send chills of joy through me.
But until your runs are complete, I must hold our last kiss, our last rush
to ecstasy firmly in my heart as my strength till we touch again.
Eighteen wheels, bring my love home, safe, sound, and soon.
…
By this point i had a tear…
A Trucker’s Little Girl
A trucker’s little girl always looks up
to her trucker daddy’s big eyes…
Hoping he will stay knowing he
will go the next day.
Each time that daddy trucker
goes out on the road that
truckers little girl
Waits with love and patients
for his return.
A truckers little girl always
knows that her daddy trucker loves her so.
Her hero her daddy trucker
She brags and boasts to her
friends her daddy is a trucker …
A truckers little girl waits for
the sound of that horn …
Daddy’s home … Daddy’s home…
A truckers little girl has a dream …
She wants to be like her daddy
trucker and drive the big rig.
By this point i was in tears i have kids as do most of yo i,m sure…
If only
A Trucker’s Life
They say to go one place but you
end up going further
They pay you for that place but
not the other.
The days are short the nights are
long and all I can do is sing myself
a song
I’m humming here and I’m
humming there its not helping I’m in despair.
I cant find that place I’m looking for its
■■■■■■■ me off and I’m getting sore.
I’m tired, ■■■■■■■ hungry too and nobody
wants to say hello or how do you do.
So I’m going to shut it down and wait
awhile then start again and go another mile.
when I find this place I’m going I’m gonna
drop this load and get back on the road.
Now I’m going home to see my wife and
say to hell with this truck drivers life.
…
Its amazing that some people dont actually understand for one ■■■■■■■ minute what life is all about out there on the road driving somethign 60/65 feet long and 40/44 ton, most people just see us as a big smoke belching monster getting in their way and after reading the above it just makes you think … and pause for a moment… about how crucial our life and work is doesnt it?.
Emotional bit over for the night im off to bed…
Sorry Bully i know the bar is not suppopsed to be for trucking stuff but i felt this would be moved here if i put it on the pdf.
