Great. I just got another user reporting the same issue. I finish my day job for the year tomorrow, so after this I’ll have a good couple of weeks to get some more progress on TruckerTimer (OK, and Christmas as well . I’ll try and get this one figured out.

Lol, Santa better be good to you then
Has anyone else had issues with the app since the latest update this weekend?
I had a shock at how much battery was being used, this is with the charger plugged in all the time.
Normally at the end of a 10 hour day my phone is still more then 90% but today (with all other non important apps closed) the battery fell to 10% and the notice came up saying the charger could not charge enough as the phone was using too much power. I just scraped by turning off the screen and disabling the GPS.
Could the new speed monitor addition be causing the issue?
Its a fantastic app, so I hope is something easy to sort.
Hi Drift:
The plumbing for the GPS has changed – it had to move to a newer system as the old system stopped working on Android 4.4 and above. The information display is entirely incidental, and it won’t add or subtract from the battery usage. However you can hide it in the GPS settings if you’d prefer.
The new GPS system should be much nicer to the batter (at least Google keeps telling me that). Does your Android battery monitor tell you anything (“Battery” in your system settings)?
Luke.
Ive got 4.1.1 on my new android phone and whilst I can backup, I can’t restore the backup from another device. I cant see the version number on the old one but the phone is on Android 2.3 and my new one is 4.2. Suggestions please?
When am on break and make a call it goes onto other break. Any solution to this? I’m using an iphone 4
Other work sorry not other break. Doh!!

Android 2.3 doesn’t run the new update – at least not yet – as some of the 3rd party libraries I’ve used no longer run on older versions and I need to rewrite them to make them work.
There’s no easy way to transfer logs from a 4.x device to a 2.x device. You can transfer logs the other way, but it requires a little work. Probably best to email me if you want to do either of these things and I’ll help you out. Transferring between any two up-to-date versions should be easy now.

So, just to be sure: you’re on “Short break” and making a call and it goes to “Other work”?
Does it still do this if GPS integration is turned off? (Not that it should make a difference – just want to check if it’s the cause of the problem).
I’ve got no idea how it would do this :S I’ll test it out a few times this week and see if I can get the same thing to happen.
I shall email so you can get me from 2.3 to 4.2 as I previously said…

On the old version, 2.3, which I have data for about a year or so does have an option for ‘backup and restore’ but the newer version that I installed on this 4.2 android phone doesn’t even have a backup / restore function.
In this modification work you mentioned; do you try and merge it as a new data file or modify the file as well? Will you be implementing the ‘backup’ function to the new updates too?
Hi Dented:
In the old version:
- Go to “Backup and restore”
- Backup
- Find the backup file. It should be on your SD Card under “TruckerTimer/backup.xml”
- Rename this file to “backup.ttxml” (or anything ending in .ttxml)
- Email it to your new phone, or something like that
In the new version:
Just open the file you created straight from email. It will ask if you want to open it with TruckerTimer, at which point the app will open and restore it. This is the magic that needs the file to be named “.ttxml” so that TruckerTimer recognizes it.
In the new version, you can just directly send a “ttxml” file to yourself without going through the process of saving it to SD card and renaming it.
Thanks for the update but the new version doesn’t have anywhere for me to open a file and clicking the file I get “application not available”

Yes on a short break, sometimes it shows driving mode for zero minutes then goes to other work. As for the GPS bit you mention, I have no idea, sorry.

Sorry for the late reply, I had another app using a lot of memory and since sorting that the power issue has improved a fair bit but I forgot to mention the TT did start crashing or freezing the phone and hanging with a black screen. This issue has not happened today as I think there was an update over the weekend?
Still a cracking app, keep up the good work

Yes, the app doesn’t have anywhere to open it.
You should just press on the file, and “TruckerTimer” should pop-up as an available option. If it doesn’t, please email the file to me and I’ll see if I can sort it out.
Another bug in the 2.3 android version is that 9 hours off during the middle of the day is classed as invalid daily rest when no other 9 hour slots have been used! The logs will be sent in snyway after I finish this duty week.
For the record it seems fine now
Only minor issue is it some times unexpectedly changes from a short break to driving if you move your phone from the dash to steering wheel, I understand the gps may detect movement but I thought there was a delay to the speed it should be moving? (some guess work in my diagnostics as I am a real techi Luddite)
The app won’t be any different if it’s a rest in the middle of the day, or at night. I haven’t changed the code for this in any recent version either.
I suspect you probably didn’t start the rest early enough, as it has to be completed within 24 hours of your previous shift starting to be valid. If you’re unsure, or want me to check, send through the logs for sure.
I made the GPS more sensitive in this most recent version – the only problem is I think I made it much too sensitive for some phones from some of the reports I’m getting (your problem matches this). I’m going to have to turn down the sensitivity a bit, I think.
