Hi all,
Keen to learn of what people use for bedding for their cab mattresses and where they get them from?
I drive an old DAF XF and god knows what’s gone on in the unit before me given the state the mattress is in! I’m sure this is a common concern for those who do nights out…!
Given that mattresses in trucks are often an odd shape I wondered whether regular single fitted sheets were good enough?
I came across fitted sheets specifically for truck mattresses on EBay for DAF’s, Scania, Renault, Mercedes and Volvo’s ( rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481 … olid=11111 ) but wondered what others use.
I bought “vidaXL 90 x 220 sheets”. Not shaped for DAF mattresses, but plenty big enough, and £17 for two of them. Many standard fitted sheets aren`t long enough.
Unzip, mattress cover and wash on a 40c wash.
And watch how dirty the water gets, urghh

Don’t put it in the tumble dryer, as it will shrink and you wont be able to get it back on.

A bit like the old 3 series Scania curtains then
I just use a fleece throw, chuck it on the bed, then me, then a quilt.

Single sheet from IKEA .Did try different colours but only the grey worked the rest went to baggie after a day.
I drive a DAF XF 67 plate.
I got my motor from new so there was no need to wash the cover.
I got a cotton mattress cover from Dunelm for under a tenner.
Then a single warm duvet… (inside a Newcastle Utd duvet cover
)
Rob’s top tip…
If I go on holiday I take all my bedding out,.and turn the matress upside down.

Tut tut Rob that’s no way to talk about the missus
I’ve used a single bed fitted sheet before with a few pieces of elastic stitched to the edges so it goes under the mattress & tensions the sheet
If you have the spare brass for it, I can highly recommend one of these

If you are passing and need a break, head into the New Hollies in Cannock. They have an advert for shaped mattress covers/sheets in the toilets downstairs. Can’t remember how much they cost but thought they were pricy for what they are.
I’m in an Actros that an Ikea sheet is long enough for.
Place I worked at years ago one of the drivers used a single airbed placed it ontop of the mattress. he said it’s nice and comfy.
I get a length of tarpauling/curtain from the workshop…
You need a solid barrier with 99% of used mattresses I’ve seen over the years.
Ask your boss if he would consider sleeping at home on a second hand mattress
For more years…
Than I care to remember, I used a double duvet inside a duvet cover. Put one half of the duvet on the mattress which you then lay on and then the other half goes over the top of you. Bit like a sossige roll.
Snug as a bug in a rug.

Cheers all for the responses.
I went for the one being sold on EBay (see below) and to be honest it is fantastic. Great quality, 100% cotton and believe it or not it has actually been specifically made to fit the odd shaped mattress in the unit. Its had a few washes and still goes on no problem. My mate bought one for his Scania and was equally impressed so much so that he bought two! One as a spare.
