Truck drivers motorcycles?

Another vote for XJR1300, bought Nov '01. Have never seen anything with which I’d care to replace it. Suzuki GT750, memories of the first bike I attempted to control

This was my baby, 2015 mt09 tracer. I got rid of it last week as it was expensive luxury item ( and the wife was threatening divorce lol)

It was my first bike when I passed bike test in 2015 aged 37, although I had lots of motocross experience on 125/250 2 and 4 stroke in my teens and twenties. When I first went out on it I absolutely ■■■■ myself  it really was insane, but it had 3 power modes that slowed me to grow into it. I did 7500 miles in first summer and quickly started to get to grips with it chasing my mates down on srad750 and 4xvr1, chicken strips were gone after first 3k miles and I was maxing it off every bend out in the twisties. The traction control/anti wheely and abs really proved a vital safety net for me initially as I had some stupid moments panic breaking into bends and stuff lol but soon learnt to let off the brakes and just push the bar down to get around. It will lift the front at 100 mph in 4th if you are sitting back and upright as the torque and Midrange is unreal, the antiwheely lets you lift the front off bridges, crests and humps at 90+ You can litterally abuse it and it cuts the ignition and just lets the front sail for a second making you look like some nutter that can really ride a bike but it’s just the electronics doing their thing  this summer I started to ride it a bit with the traction control off and it really is a crazy thing, like a giant supermoto with 120hp that literally comes up in any gear at any speed  I’ll miss it that’s for sure it’s the most amazing piece of motoring technology I’ve ever experienced and I’ve driven some epic cars during my 10 yrs in motor trade when I was younger

Really want another one ASAP toying with a Zx9r or a falco sl1000 … probably the latter as the crazy inline 4 top end will be too tempting and I’ll end up banned and in prison or dead

Hired an xt600 when we went zante and did some touring of the island, was fantastic

Dr D that photo of the Deau in the snow was taken on a Sunday ride out some where north of Sheffield, but your photos reminded or a trip over the Alps from Italy to Switzerland. It was nice and sunny as we rode across from Verona to Milan then we turned to the mountains and it poured it down until we started dropping down toward Sion and it was sunny again. Too late then some of the kit was still wet the next morning.
Nice thread by the way enjoyed the photo’s of all the bikes but for me the prize has to go to Side valves old Harley. To own and maintain some thing like that is brilliant but to ride it all over Europe that’s some thing else, well done mate.

Gave up on sports bikes last year and sold the zxr. And then bought a gs1200 to 'take it steady"! Quite honestly the best bike i’ve had in over 20 years of riding and lets me take the ■■■■ out of my mates on their sports bikes when we get there and i can still walk

Yep love the BM boxer engines. Far more character than the K series. Funnily enough never owned a boxer but ridden plenty. Did own a big bus once…K100LT…only cause it was a good buy.

Riding on roads is too boring

I have had bikes since I was 17 at present have a gpz500 but due to work & life don’t have a lot of time to ride atm

First bike, passed test this year!!

I have one the same as this

xjr 1300 is my weapon of choice too. 2002 had her from nearly new. Six week old ex demo.Done the usual to her, airbox mod,filter,4 deg ign advance. Predator collector and cans(baffles optional). Just debating if to fit a gpz style cockpit fairing.

Yamaha XJR 1300 comfortable and quick… Honda 600 CBR RR Stupidly fast! Both lots of fun after trundling around a 56mph all day!

Bought my first bike in 1963 a Royal Enfield Crusader Sports and it was my only transport when I started driving lorries in 1965. It is still on the road today after 50 years of maintenance with a couple of spanners a screwdriver and a hammer. It must have almost paid for itself by now.

■■■■ that is impressive.

Well I’m surprised that this thread has gone to 3 pages. Because it doesn’t involve satnavs/automated vehicles/what to take tramping,I thought it would die a quick death. It’s been an eye-opener. I think whoever James the Cat bought his R1 from though has had him over

Not too shabby. Actually over 50 per cent of Royal Enfields are still on the road…

… the rest were pushed back to the garage. :grimacing:

don’t own one but if I had the chance to buy my dream bike it would be the Yamaha XJR 1300,or the Suzuki GSX 1400,both real good looking bikes, they remind me of the muscle bikes of the 70s but modern, and they sound real great

Anyone else or is it just me?
