Great video, thanks for sharing.

There is an FA Dayson of ■■■■■■■ in this video.

Seen it before but it’s enjoyable, 70,000 miles p.a ain’t a lot or did I miss hear it ?

Also anybody tell where that elevated section of motorway is featured a couple of times in the first 3 and a bit minutes please.

He’s ‘Klunk’ on here ,top bloke, the second one that’s slide pics of Daysons

Mr Albion used to sub for Dow Freight and run out to Iran for a bit. He had dementia towards the end of his life and when it had got really bad, about the only thing he responded to was the DVD of Destination Doha, everything other memory had gone, but that DVD was great. I wish I’d know that was on youtube, it would have been a bit of a change.

Hello Mrs Albion, I am sorry to hear that very sad news about Tony H. I will mention it to two of his old workmates Barry Longden and Jimmy Walker who I am sure would like to pass on their condolences. Is Tony’s brother Roger still around and has he got any old photo of his Middle East days.
And just in case he would like to see a photo of their old Volvo, here it is again.

Regards Steve.

ROGER'S VOLVO..jpg

Thank you mushroomman, that was very kind of you.

Rog was hoping that I might find photos of some of the old days, but if Tony had any, not sure where they went to as I never came across them.

Must give Rog a ring, he’s over in Shropshire. Keeps threatening to retire and then moves the goalposts, had a van and a small truck doing some fridge work.

I watched that when it was originally on ,and for some reason remembered the last line where the narrator says his boss was so glad to see him he told him to load up and go back to istanbul :open_mouth: funny how things stay with u

There was a thing on one of the trucking threads on Facebook a while back.
A cording to a few drivers on there who were doing that work at the time the main driver was a bit of a knob and the film crew had enough and left him in a lay by somewhere and made there own way back.

Wasn’t Dow freight the Stockport company who got busted for running two sets of trucks on duplicate plates to get round customs restrictions?

I should think it was Italy, they have some spectacular motorway sections with bridges and tunnels.

I think the first elevated section is the road up to the Mont Blanc tunnel, just past Sallanches.
The split level bit looks like the A40 past Bourge en Bresse before you go round Geneva,
Not sure about the other elevated section though.

thinks for posting the link, not seen it since it was on telly.

The “Stilts”

Wasn’t this the place on the way down Mr Suede, just above the steelworks.

That’s were I think it is, never heard it called the Stilts, but can see why it got the name.

I took that photo over 30 years ago but you can still make out the river coming down from the left.
I heard it called The Stilts and The Ski Jump, I should have a photo somewhere when we were going up if I can find it. Going up Mont Blanc was never a problem unless it was snowing or you were over weight, it was the going down in a blizzard that I never liked. :frowning:

Found them but you might have to make them a bit smaller to see the full pictures. :bulb:

I wonder what ever happened to the posh bit that was driving the Danzas wagon? Yum yum
