Treated worse than dogs

I actually have some sunburn after today…the joys of being on shunting and getting to laze around on the grass for an hour or 2 while they decide which trailer to tip first!

Why have i never done shunting before? It’s a doddle!

I usualy take the pet cat for a wonder around the block while waiting at the RDC,get some funny looks with the diamond crusted collar, then back to the cab for some sniffing.

Can’t say I’m bothered about handing keys in. Beats sitting in a waiting room. But then I drive a Scania so I have power without keys, an employer that buys aircon pods, and protec door locks so I can lock it without keys. So I won’t need any passers by to break the windows and drag me out anytime soon.

Personally I have never done regular RDC work, just the occasional ones years ago, reading on here I am glad that I have not, it is verging on the ridiculous what some places make drivers do in the name of keeping their staff safe, seems that the same treatment is not extended to visiting drivers.

Here’s a Luke’s Top Tip, on hot days open the windows before you hand your keys in.

Makes you wonder doesnt it? And these guys are allowed out on their own with 44 tons of deadly weaponry :open_mouth:

As a driver if you think you may be on a night out you take an overnight bag

If your a tramper you take enough gear for how ever long you are out for

So if its hot - PACK SOME ■■■■■■■ SHORTS

Here endeth the lesson

I was stuck in greggs for 3 hours the other day just lay out on the grass not giving a ■■■■. Make the best open all your doors stick the radio up listen to some tunes in the sun :grimacing:

Im considering shorts for tomorrow but i think they look terrible when wearing boots, think i might change into my trainers when i leave the depot

Bud143:
Why dont you just wind the legs down and pull from underneath it by a couple of feet then theres no reason why you cant have them

I offered to do that at the tip in my post, can’t do that, wouldn’t be safe, might tip.

Ok, I’ll leave my unit under, just not coupled, ie off the 5th wheel but still under… No…

Literally, I’ve offered, drop red air line, trailer brakes, drop off 5th wheel, but some firms are just ■■■■■■■ mate to be honest.

Every firm except 1 that I’ve ever been to that’s asked for truck keys has accepted whatever keys you give them as it ticks the box on the H+S sheet, that 1 firm (and only 1 depot) were just trouble causing morons.

Also, why is it that every firm that does this has had a forklift half in / half out when a driver has pulled off the bay?? Seriously, it’s happened thousands of times, perfect timing and everything :unamused:

You can come and stand at the back of my tipper and open the chutes, the asphalt is about 175 c.

It’s not you we’re worried about it’s Bertie the poor chap, melt in that windscreen he would.

Oh Christ I didn’t think of that!

Has it anybody tought it a bit odd that if you were to leave a dog in a car on a hot day in a car park someone would probably smash a window to let the poor dog out and/or you’d be arrested and rightly so. But as I write this I’m sitting in my truck with the sun baking me through the windscreen whilst sitting in a rdc for the last 90 mins with no keys for air con along with countless other drivers in the same predicament. The world is a [zb] up place.

thats according too our boss why they specced our new g-cabs without electric windows, manual ones,if you want them down because its too hot you can put them down without the need for keys,if it startsv to ■■■■ down[summer shower],you can put them up without the need for the keys.,i always thought it was cheaper to spec them without electric drivers window, but maybe im wrong, and they were thinking of us all the time :exclamation: :exclamation:

Or just get your gaffer to buy a Stralis. Granted the air con wont work without your keys/engine running, but your leccy windows still go up and down without keys and you have a lovely fridge as standard to keep your bottle of water ice cold!!!

What about the time before air con was invented  or for those that dont have it at all still

Windows do go up / down always have done :unamused:

But you could use shanks’s pony :sunglasses:

But it is invented, why don’t you go onto a ward in a hospital and ask the people what they’d have done before medicine was invented. Bet your a real hero that doesn’t need air con or heat or anything post 1970. Wish I was hard like you. BTW windows don’t go up or down without keys but that’s for the input really useful.

Only ever used air con once didnt like it never used it again ( but then I dont normally drive in a vehicle with air con )

I had to wait in my vehicle yesterday for 2 hors in the sun waiting no way of getting out of it due to where I was parked ( not a RDC or anything also had no facilities for making a drink etc ) did have windows open which helped

1970   I was a bit young then soz

Great chance for some fresh air driver … You could clean your truck or give it a good check over.

I’ve seen drivers like this, moaning about being stuck in RDC’s nothing to do, etc, etc.

Then 50 miles down the road, “Oh I havent a clue what that noise is?” “You’ve run a wheel loose driver!!”

Are you for real■■? You’ve seen drivers not cleaning their lorries and checking wheel nuts every chance they get and their wheels fell off■■? WTF are you on? I’m driving 15 years and haven’t lost a wheel yet but thanks for the advice [zb]. For the record lorry clean and all wheels on nice and tight.

Your grasp of the English language is about on a par with your common sense man!
Or is it my punctuation thats wrong?
Maybe you should get a job in a Charity Shop or on a School Crossing Patrol … something that would be more suited to your intellect

I was refused entrance on to a site today unless I wore my hi viz vest and seat belt to drive 30 yards at 10 mph :open_mouth:
When I explained how utterly ridiculous this was to my Indian friend he got some papers out and claimed the owner paid 10 thousand pounds to implement this rule for my own safety  I asked him why I need to wear a hi viz in my truck as surely anyone I may hit would surely see the wagon first and he just kept pointing to the paper and saying 10 thousands pounds. As I am agency I didnt go on about it I just did it as I didnt want to get the firm in to any trouble. But it is just ridiculous. As for RDC waiting areas I sympathise with anyone having to put up with them. Sure there are ways around things and a lot of folk will put up and shut up but this is the biggest reason the job is so crap for so many in the industry. Why shouldnt we expect a minimum standard while at work. These pricks sitting in their office would no doubt cry if ever put in the same situation as we have to put up with in RDC’s. You never see the staff taking their brakes in the ■■■■ hole with the drivers, or being told to wear their hi viz at their desk for their own safety.
