Just a few examples of trucks and bakkies (pick ups) from near Johannesburg.
I have also included a car to show the state of some of the vehicles that I see on the roads here all the time.
I should say that MOT’s are only needed when you buy your vehicle here so if you keep it for 10 years it never needs another test.
great pik… the best thing about the house removal lorrys there is they open the side doors and about 10 fellas get out of the trailer and start moving the stuff while the driver is there in his shirt and tie watchin over them

This was a rare occasion as normally all the doors are wide open when they travel, this one was closed, They must all have been asleep

Actually the equivalent of MOT’s in South Africa are the COF (Certificate of Fitness) that gets carried out on commercial vehicles annually.
As for carting people on the back of an open truck has been outlawed and you don’t get away with it.
Ok I should have worded it different, I was referring to the picture of the car when i said about the mot’s only being needed when you buy the vehicle, Yes commercial vehicles are tested every year.
As for people getting carried in the back of vehicles yes it is illegal but I see maybe 20 bakkies a day with people sitting in the open back of the vehicle and I only do 10 to 30 km a day.
