Transport for lay overs

I see these blokes with bicycles strapped to the back of their cabs now and then and am now tempted to do the same but wonder really if its worth the hassle ?
Since Rich left Foodliner to go on to a chemical hauling job I have no way of getting around when I am in Yonkers at night and used to use Rich’s VW Golf to go to the diner etc. If I log off I can use the tractor to go to places within a certain range but I can only log off in the ‘off duty’ mode, not the ‘sleeper’ mode. I order a chinese delivered to the truck about once a week but that gets expensive and most of the time now I will stop somewhere before returning to Yonkers but timing is sometimes wrong and I don’t have time due to the lines of traffic on the GWB, also stopping at Vince Lombardy in the late hours is not desirable to the faint of heart. If I am at our other location about 2 miles away it’s not too bad for nearby food but still not the best.
I have a very expensive and profesional mountain bike that the missus got me on my birthday 2 years ago which i rode round the block once and put in the shed  I was thinking of chaining it to the back of my cab for such occasions (although cycling through the Bronx is not recomended) I keep thinking what a pain it would be getting it on and off the truck when needed or washing the truck.
Does anyone else here take a bike with them … and I don’t mean Old Valerie from the Longboat in Duston

Can you make room in the cab for a Segway?

To this very day … I still don’t understand how those things work ?

Neither did the bloke who owned the company, as he plunged off a cliff pondering that question :stuck_out_tongue:

I saw a bike folded in half on the back of a cab once, don’t know if it was bought like that or the driver got to work with a hacksaw but it looked easy to put up and take down.

I like the idea of riding a bike, but then when I think about the driving standards I soon forget about it, especially up your way Pat, biking in NYC, NFW

Get a MetroCard Pat and use the buses and subway.

Have you any idea how much a metro card costs now ?
Ludlow station is right outside the refinery so I can use the Hudson river line I suppose but it doesn’t stop at Broadway diner
