Sorry for my delay in getting back to you, I have been backwards and forwards to the Middle East since 1991, where at first I stayed at KKMC as a truck and plant mechanic in Hafar Al Batin for 18 months. I first went to Jeddah in 2005 to see some customers who I had been supplying trailers to. Whilst there I went to the AL-Karki building which overlooks Jeddah docks where Basher has a pair of binoculars to keep his eye on his drivers. Their yard then was a lot smaller than the one they are in now, it was right by the highway which name escapes me, not far from Zahid Heanors yard which is still run by a fella called Pakrash who has been there since 1976.
From then I went on to supply Trans Arabia with various skelly trailers, I went to T/A new yard in 2014. They are running around 100 trailers and around 45 trucks. From what I am told a lot of the drivers have been there since the early 80s. Feel free to ask me and any more questions.
Thanks to Jona for his photos , These look like just containers to you ? But for JD , JC , & RH they where our workshops and stores ( Jerry Cook will remember the the toilet facilities that I used ■■? That’s for sure ,) the tow bar ,I don’t think I could lift it now ,but talking of Boxes Nelson taking empty containers to the mine ? That must have been profitable ! About 60 Kliks in on this track his Mac got so shook up the engine mountain snapped off , he was in trouble and completely on his own , with no body else on this track for days , he was lucky !!! hitching a lift from this isolated graded road in the middle of nowhere ,he did fantastic reaching the Tarmac he then hitched to Khamis it was incredible ,the most dangerous part of all our trips was not to break down , he told me of the internal flight he took from Khamis to Jeddah it was a small Plane , very turbulent over the mountains , coming into Trans Arabia without his truck, we where all surprised and eager to hear his tail , Ron

Ah yes! We know about this one. It is a LHD C-series with a ■■■■■■■ NTE 350 and 9-speed Fuller RTX in it. Nick Bull recovered it from Bahrain last year and is selling it as a restoration project. It’s advertised in the back of the glossy retro truck mags. I believe the duty has been paid but it still requires registering. There’s more on this unit on the LHD ERF C-series thread. Robert
