And you couldn’t wish to meet a nicer bloke!
It makes you wonder what spare wheel cover he has on his Willys Jeep! Robert

Evening Ronaldo!
How the hell are you? Not falling out with anybody I trust. LOL!
Hitler was telling me I should go through one of my drawers and “chuck stuff out.” Only she actually said… " arunca lucrurile afara"
Here are three items I re discovered.
And of course my reply to c.s.o or a.l.a was " Dear Hitler, much as I like your uniform, funny peaked hat, strange walk and rather loud way of speaking, I feel I must refuse your request. And please be aware that should these aforementioned items strangely disappear then there will be much fighting on the beaches."… Or words to that effect!!

You should have done overland Merlin, that Romanian that you’re learning would have come in handy!
I worry that you like Raluca in Hitler uniform making demands - ah well, everyone to their own…
The desert rose should be treasured - this was one of those things you weren’t allowed to export!
The other pieces will burn well!
The Flips did like to bring those desk adornments back didn’t they. I specifically asked them not to, but of course I still got one!
I was looking for a photo of mine, but I think it’s just out of shot here in our container office with JDL examining slides in the background. I wonder if he’s still got them!
My wife is the ultimate thrower out. If it hasn’t moved for 5 minutes it’s gone. My first wife was similar. I bought a cracking radio controlled American artic ‘Rig’, about 3 feet long in Khobar. Forward, reverse, steering. You just didn’t see anything like it in England at the time.
Next time I came home I couldn’t find it anywhere. My questions about where it was were met with a shake of the head and ‘well you put it away!’ It only occurred to me months later that it took up wardrobe space so it had been given/thrown away!
So M, if you suddenly recognise something in a friend’s house…
John
I love the transport office pic! Run by experienced ex drivers with pen, paper and a phone! Not a computer in sight!
The good ol’ days.
Can you imagine the fresh faced, suit wearing, college educated planners and managers of today doing that!?
That’s better, back home after a great three weeks away ? The photo below I took through a telescope ? But as promised !!! just for Backsplice the F89 that he loved , here it is , the renovation has just started by its new owner Roy Taylor this double drive ex logger from Holland , will one day be painted in the livery of Taylor’s Transport Aldridge that I remember from way back Ron

Hiya Pete I am sure it was S Jones I will find out the fleet No Thanks for your interest. Ron
Had heard Jona had got A series and he had tried buying an ex Jones’s one, there is a picture of it on TN somewhere I will see if I can find a link to it, Cheer’s Pete
Edit, SRF 223G was the reg no and Jerry confirmed it was ex Jones’s on another thread about Jones’s but I’m damned if I can find it!
Ah Ron here I am …like you I,ve been away too not as exotic as you but away just the same …you must still be on a high after having the “THRILL” of sitting in the pilots seat of that F89… anyway I,ve looked in the shoe box and the pics are getting a bit thin on the ground now but we,ll try and keep them coming while they last
Memories are made of this ,On the way to King Solomans mine , keeping the Mac in the middle just in case it rains ?!! , the servicing on the trucks was the key to stopping them becoming grinding machines ! The ■■■■■■■ had got very good sealing on there engines , keeping the sand at bay ,when you tipped the cab the front of the engines where polished with the hot sand coming through the Rad , the Mac,s had trouble on the graded road to the mine some 100klick,s off the black stuff in this land from another world , being shook to death, with there suspension , there looks where impressive , the drivers where great ,It did feel good to drive the Mac , you felt safe with the tonkers pushing you around Ron .

King Solomans mine is in Jordon
The location is Saudi for the mine was Almasarne however the a Queen of Sheba gold mine was about 2hrs away - which was our original route in for the reci having said that looking up the location for Q S mine it says Ethopia so who knows!! There were Cornish tin miners there and had been for 18months living in Bedouin tents - when went down there was a cobra snake - I soon left!!
See you have one of my original photos of the 3 leaving site back to the main Khamis/ Najran road
Gogi ERF broke down on the way in - thermostatic switch on the fan - screwed into lock position
Ken
Well that’s a cruel posting !!! "Mirlin " to Damman !!! He would have paid a kings ransom to have by chance met the Queen of Sheba , risking his 123- skin with the lions Ron

Trans Arabia ? I can only surmise this Storie that has been talked off by all our lads , The Cresta Run in 50 deg !!! was found to be to hot to handle ? The ill fated Mac 114 loaded with a transformer on a low bed , Must have been 78 tons in total , pulled away from outside the Villa ,to crawl for 3hrs up to the Top of the notorious Teif mountain, then rest awhile ,this was the start of the CRESTA run , the driver was none other than the now famous Gypsy Dave ,the next 2 days will be frightening , he had with him an American man Who is now probably in a Mental hospital in Texas ? Still screaming?!! The start of this road to Khamis is not to bad, but the further you travel with the Sun in windscreen the steeper it gets , it’s a road that I found had spectacular Scenery, the road cut though mountains of rock , with carnage of trucks that had fell fowl to the X CAMEL drivers that had obviously died. In There Metal sledges with wheels running out of brakes and crashing Into each other , APPARENTLY WITH ALL WHEELS SMOKING THIS TRUCK WAS NOW ON THE CRESTA RUN 114 , YOU REALY HAVE TO DRIVE THIS ROAD, ITS FANTASTIC , Scull and cross bones signs reminding you that you are about to meet "Allah " and may be meet the Queen of Sheba ? Is it worth it !!! ? Get down Mirlin !! With Gypsy Dave standing on the Middle pedal , this is wide enough for 2 feet ,thank god !!! and with white knuckles on the wheel ?!! Organ stops for Eyes !! SHOUTING TO THE YANK ,■■? Jump Jump JUUUMMMMP ,Well we know what the Yanks are like !!! Looking at himself in the NS mirror ,AND THEN BACK TO GYPSY Save me save me !!! With the engine sounding like a machine gun with the valves hitting the piston in there firing order , Skilfully Gypsy Dave steered the fire breathing monster into the side of the rock face and somehow with all his training he had at S JONES driving Tippers ? He pulled the rig Up WELL DONE DAVE !!! RON
