That anyone who does apply has a face that fits.

And isn’t expected to load the train themselves.

Plus, you can drive the train on any route you want so as to avoid any tunnels.

Yep trains by definition don’t have the flexibility regarding routes that trucks have who would have thought it.
Train drivers also don’t have to worry about cyclists and pedestrians.
Obviously no need to apply for anyone who prefers working as a warehouse or building site labourer.
I bet they have hundreds of applications for every available job
Now freight trains is one job I’d love to have a crack at, never really seen an advert that I could actually apply for unfortunately, my nearest stations would be manchester , Liverpool or maybe Crewe
I would apply if I lived closer to those depots. I think my face fits (have work ethic)

Can you stop enroute and have a pee against the nearside front wheel?
Why do you need a manual driving licence for Heavy Haul?

Your required to drive a works van to and from the depot. To your train.
For Intermodal - you don’t need a car licence.

It’s not recommended.

I agree Harry. He was hit on the nearside as well.
RIP Driver.
I’d like a go at this but don’t think I’m bright enough. Got a steam train driving day booked for my birthday on east lancs railway lol.
Anyone know what kind of hours train drivers work in comparison to hgv drivers?

Thanks. Maybe a daft question but are there any driving time regulations aswell? Say a train from London to Glasgow, would that keep the same driver all the way or change half way and he take another train back?
Get yourself on u tube mate there are lots of videos on there from ex train drivers etc giving advice on interviews, the questions you’ll be asked and all about driving a train. Good luck.
