Hello
Not sure if this is ok to post here or even if it’s the right place. Have a 12 metre trailer that needs taking back to the UK from SW France to Channel Freight for some work. Is this something that can be done if a tractor unit is going back to UK without a trailer, would an owner/driver be prepared to do this? Trying to see if this is a done thing, obviously will pay for extra fuel, tolls and hassle etc.
Cheers
Maybe ask a mod to put this on to the Owner Operator forum?
A few thoughts though. Not a lot of tractor solo movement made so you may be waiting for a while. Those solo moves may be from dropping gen-sets or other specialist gear so may be using own account permits and not up for commercial work.
What sort of trailer is it? Could a haulier put his own pay load in it? Is it a UK trailer with a current mot and plating certs? Good tyres etc? Any one entering the UK with anything unusual can expect to attract the attention of the C & E, so many will shy away because of that.
What you’re thinking of isn’t impossible but ain’t all plain sailing.

Hhmmm. Has that trl been in France since 2014? Out of test then?
It wouldn’t appear to be exempt under V 112G ?
