Traffic Warden Logic

Where do they get it?!

On a 15 minute break today I, like the rebel I am, parked the truck in a loading bay on a busy high-street and went to the bank and to get some food.
Truck totally locked up and obviously not loading or unloading anything.

Came out of the bank and saw a traffic warden sniffing around, thought to myself “looks like I’m in trouble” as I walked up to the cab he cheerily said “Morning driver, got much to load?” I told him I was all finished thank you and would be on my way, happy chap seemed content and my faith in humanity is restored.

However, 30 minutes later half a mile away I’m delivering and I see the same traffic warden arguing with a hassled looking Argos driver, parked in an Argos only loading bay, with his Argos liveried unit and trailer and obviously a lot of unloading still to do.

Parking warden is giving him a ticket for being a couple of minutes over the 20 minute limit, when clearly it wasn’t enough for him to get a whole artic load off on his own with a pump truck.

Why give a driver so much grief when he obviously is parked in the only suitable place, marked specifically for him, delivering the goods the store needs.

I can only imagine someone ■■■■ in his sandwiches in-between the time he saw me and the time he saw the poor Argos dude.

If you’re out there driver, hope the rest of your day went better!

I’d say the Argos driver gave him a bit of lip where you on the other hand were nice, bit of good manners cost nothing and go along way!

Yep, most likely the Aggos driver failed the attitude test.

"Argos driver, parked in an Argos only loading bay, with his Argos liveried unit and trailer "
so if the space is for him only what the [zb] has it got to do with the traffic warden.

The traffic wardens i have came across in Edinburgh are a bunch of tossers, went there with a container to off load a removal, got there at half 8 for a 9am booking so couldnt get near the house so parked up the street a bit waiting on the removal guys to arrive. About 10 mins later a warden walks up and asks what im doing so i reply im waiting to offload a removal, just waiting on guys turning up and a space becoming available, says i have to move and just drive around until i c a space (talk about exhaust emissions), his general attitude stunk and i had a bit of a go back. I moved and eventually get into a space outside the house. A while later another one walks by and starts writing a ticket so i jump out and he had a right attitude on him as well (foreign, think he was polish) so argued wi him for a while. He eventually went away then another guy (polish again) turns up and says he is booking me and muttered in polish under his breath and told me to eff off when i told him we r trying to do a job here and is he too thick to understand this.

What made it worse was he said to me “you shouldnt b parked here”, i was very tempted to say “yeah well u shouldnt b here either”

It must ask on the application form for the job if they are complete tossers and if they tick yes automatically offered employment.

No wonder we cant get jobs in this country, they are all being taken by these immigrants.

i once got a ticket whilst legally parked in a loading bay round the back of a shop that was on stoke newington high street. now any parking tickets were paid by the shop, so it wasn’t a problem for me or the company, but i very politely pointed out the loading bay that i was halfway through unloading in! but i got no sense. so i very politely asked if she drove that and had to deliver here where would she park? after pondering for a couple of seconds, she said, err, we don’t start till 7 (or whatever time it was) so come before then. i took a few pics and told the office who were going to appeal it, i never did find out what happened!

I think the reason behind the traffic warden’s attitude is obvious, at some point in the past he had made the mistake of shopping at Argos.

Jamie - What the ■■■■ does it have to do with the fact hes Polish? From what you’ve just written it seems like it was your attitude that caused him to erupt.

Usual script.

No i just asked him why he was gona write a ticket and his attitude was stinking so i gave him it back. The fact he was polish was adding insult to injury, muttering in his own language (highly disrespectful and ignorant) and that i “shudnt b parked there” when in fact he shouldnt even b in the country to start with. By the way where i was parked we had applied for and received a suspension to allow us to park there. This is why there aint any jobs in this country and why the wages are so crap coz these guys r working for pennies. Honestly, u guys tht stick up for these immigrants need to get to grips with why this country is in the mess its in.

Or, they are allowed into our country after following our rather loose rules. Who’s more to blame?

You can`t go and criticise our precious foreign friends, all the namby pamby poofs will be out gunning for yer

I live in Lincs and they have taken the meat out of the job big time…If I had my way, they would all be brown bread

Need another illegal brewery to go pop again

My thoughts exactly mate and yeah i no that there are the usual people who think its wrong to say anythin against these foreigners but very soon they are gona b thinkin its their country, there will be that many of them. They bleed the system for all its worth and yes i no the country has loose rules but these guys know exactly how to exploit it for all they can get, thats what really annoys me, that and the “human rights act”.

It’a not just in the UK - I was in a RHD truck last summer delivering some furniture to an office in Gothenburg (coals to newcastle ) right opp the station I was waiting for the local movers to turn up and my boy shouts across "theres a lady down here shouting at me dad"so I jump down and walk round.

Well this blond lovely is having none of it ! :open_mouth: I have committed the ultimate sin, she says move I say no she says move I say no. Then my phone rings so I think oh thats the local boys trying to get hold of me so I jump back in the wagon and its the UK office giving me a reload detail I scrible the number and get back down to find a police car has turned up. They walk over and ask me to move I politely say well I parked opposite in the best place I cannot get closer and I have 80m3 of office furniture to offload.

the policaman goes over to the traffic warden who says something that the policemen he doesn’t like and they start arguing then another traffic warden joins in and all hell breaks loose so I’m watching all this and not moving then the local moving boys turn up and the foreman says hi I explain what happened and he says leave them to it we will unload you. 5 Hours later doors shut paperwork signed and i’m off.

I didnt get a ticket but i did get a moral victory !

Parking tickets which are legitimately issued are the bosses problem so don’t stress fella! As long as you were meant to be there that is, capisce?

I’m probably just biased, but drivers making deliveries to shops & businesses should be exempt from intrusion from parking wardens (within reason).

I have loaded underneath ‘no loading’ signs and in less than ideal places in town centres far more times than i can count… at the end of the day you have a delivery to make and have to park your wagon up somewhere near the goods entrance. It is up to our planners to ensure that we are going to places at suitable times.

Instead of giving us grief for just trying to do our job the parking enforcers should be dealing directly with our operators and the business we are delivering to so that proper delivery arrangements can be made in future. I would be more than happy to give a parking warden my operators name and contact phone number.

A couple of weeks ago i had to park round the back of the agencies office to drop off my time sheet as id forgotten to post it and i wasn’t going to get paid if they didn’t get it that day.

Was less than a couple of minutes but a traffic warden had sprung from nowhere (i looked as i was parking and no sign of him). If asked where i was delivering to. Told him politely where id been and that im going now. He grumbled a bit but never gave me a ticket.

On another occasion i parked my car in a disabled space to go to the cash point. It was late in the day so the 6 spaces were empty. In the time it took me to get the cash the warden was writing me a ticket. I politely argued that the spaces were clearly not being used by any disabled people and that i had probably been less than a minute anyway. Again no ticket, so i think that if you’re nice and polite to them instead of giving them grief then they’re more likely to let you off. I can only guess that the argos driver had done or said something to upset the warden mentioned in the OP

i got one a few years ago using a loading bay outside a post office to deliver a parcel i was in my car. i was inside for 15 minutes if not less come out to find a ticket. As my council employs ncp to do parking enforcement i rang the number on the ticket and the operator was shocked i wasn’t phoning up to pay and told me to put my complaint into writing.

I did saying what I had done reply back consisted of no proof so still had to pay (where is innocent until proven guilty).

So i sent another letter to the council with proof a photocopy of my recipt from the post office finally got off the ticket.

So in total i spent 15 mins on phone to a 0845 number £1.50, used two stamps 52p two envelopes 24p a photocopy 6p, and some wasted time all because a traffic warden couldn’t go into a post office and ask whos car it was i would have shouted up with a parcel end off problem.

I think its got a lot to do with their bosses telling them how many tickets should be issued that day, and nothing to the effect that they dont use common sense.
I had to deliver a parcel to central london, so the street i was in was very narrow, and a one way street which was quite busy, so seeing as i was in a small van, and rather than cause utter chaos, parked with 2 wheels on the kerb, pedestrians could get past, the traffic was moving nicely, and i had the runaround in trying to find the office i needed, so when i returned after about 10 minutes, hed been and gone leaving his little plastic bag stuck to the windscreen..ticketed for parking on a pavement. However i did catch up with him further down the road. Oi mate, was that you who gave me this ticket Yeah, why Well, couldnt you see that i was using my brain No, you wasnt about So why give me the ticket then, cos you was parked on the pavement But if i parked in the road, no traffic could get through, yeah, well, if you had, you wouldnt have got a ticket But then im causing an obstruction
well, you woudda got a ticket for that anyway
So it seems that you just cant win…so we gotta grin and bear it.
