Or try it another way. While you are still in the port, pull away without the yellow air line connected and get to about 10/15 mph then break hard’ish, then again with the yellow air line connected. Then decide for yourself if you are satisfied with the difference.
No need for all that pallava. I always do at least one moving brake test and as the OP has already found out, with experience you can tell immediately the difference between being tugged back from the back or only the unit doing the work, in which case it tends to nose dive.

Have you been out and about asking people? It’s taken you nearly two weeks to come back with that answer.
get 2 off 1 metre long 100x100 mil bits of wood
so the fifth wheel is nearer the pin when you try to hitch up
cos shunters always drop the trailers higher than the air bags will go up to
get the fitting on the unit changed to palms this is better than using converters
but keep palm coupling converters for use on UK fittings
and remember if it cant to be done legally it cant be done

He won’t change the couplings because the unit I’ve been using is what he calls his “shunter”, supposed to have changed to a differant/later unit for this week but something has happened? not sure what and tbh don’t really care, but do agree it would be better.
Most definately, I will not step over the mark, it’s my licence, not theirs. The agency guy [ex driver ]that sorts the work likes to try to push you over (bossman warned me about that first day ) but “no way hosey”

Seconded knowall. Berewic’s post sounds like he’s stuck in the 70’s.
his post just arnt stuck in the 70’s, he himself is also stuck there!!!
Look son, we know you can’t read, can’t spell and you know FA about the job either, so why not go sort some more mail?
And you don’t want to be taking any notice of driverwonk, he’s just an older version of you.
Gorby. Is what you posted for real? if so the do the maths. 350 devided by 67 is less per hour than the minimum wage of £5.73, 50p an hour less. I can sympathise with your position and while your desire to provide is admirable I think that you are doing no one except your boss any favours. Please go and speak with the citizens advice because you are being taken for a ride. At the risk of opening up another legal/real world slanging match I hope you can get at least the minimum rate laid down in law.
Hope you get a better job soon. Good luck mate you’re going to need it.

If so do the english duh it’s spelt divided not devided lol
Maybe but is that by choice or on a take it or leave it option because with the situation as described he doesn’t seem to have a range of customers, and if he is supplying just his skills with the “clients” kit why would he refer to the “client” as his boss?

Like I said, stick to things you know about. Why comment on things your only qualified to guess at? The job is hard graft, long hours and it’s a push to get the job done. My last boss took on a new driver for a new traction job out of Tilbury area. In order to make it pay, the driver was expected to do two trailers a day from Tilbury area to the Northampton area. The driver walked after two days. It’s tough problematic work and the rates are poor.
What line of work are you in not to know drivers regularly work 13’s and 15’s, librarian?

I’m wondering if the truck insurance is valid for you to drive as your self employed or who would be liable for damage when not parked up in a recognised truck stop, as some insurance companies insist vehicles are parked in secure areas at night.
