I know it doesn’t answer your question big man but can’t beat nostalga!
Interesting to see how many of ya would swap the motor you drive today for one of these! The trucks may be (well are) better today but the job was way better then!
By the way borrowed a few of the pictures of the web so thankyou very much, including the first one of McKellars who i was lucky enough to spend 8 years on for!
couldn’t agree more, i have a R580 now but would love to do a trip in a 141 just for old times sake, had a one in the 80’s when i first started over the water, proper truck.
I had two 142 V8’s and a Daf 310.
No limiters back then. The V8 engine would sing and begged to be thrashed and hated running at low speeds or trundling along. One was an ex Peter Gilders with Ducth Esteppe roof conversion.
E901 HDF.
The 113 and 112 could do the business. The green Scania was D366 TRM.

Did it look like this…
Just like that in maroon colours.Any repairs could be done to get going again with no computers.

How it should be
Knock with it a hammer, tie it with cable ties add sellotape and off you go.
No call out mechanic at night on the night rate plus false mileage bills.Modern trucks “The computer says no”.You aint going anywhere.

Hence why i drive a transit van full of hammers spanners and cable ties…with the biggest spanner at the wheel
If it is hanging off,Duck tape will get you home.True story this;two drivers set off to Spain in a rigid.
They were not told that all the wheels had been taken off for a service.
They got to the Bordeaux area in the forest road to see wheels going past them.
They had come off.
The Gendarmes fined them and a call out to fit new wheels. To be overtaken by your own tyres is not pleasant.
I think simon Gibson trucks take some beating
ive never seen a shabby brian yeardley ,the new mp4s look well
