We have become accustomed to the occasional TV programe like ‘Mr Bates & the Post Office’ having an immediate overwhelming response from the viewing public.
This, however was the very first of the genre. First broadcast in January 1973,
the switchboard of Yorkshire TV was jammed for three days with people wanting to find out more. So since some will never have heard of Hanah Hauxwell as this was so long ago, and we are just about to see a drop in daytime temperatures, here it is, enjoy and possibly have a hanky nearby!) :
