I’m struggling with weight limits ,it seems to be just ignoring them ,grantham to rugby ,I either go 607 to Melton - Leicester or 52 to Bingham - 46 Leicester ,it’s taking me on 607 to Melton but then saying turn right as you go through Waltham on the wolds ( 7.5 t limit ) , now as I’ve just got it I’ve left weight settings as per factory ,40 t overall weight ,10 t axle weight ,have I got something wrong ta.
N.b I’ve lost so much faith in it I’m using it in car to see what it’s doing ,and gone back to my maps in truck ,waste of £300 at moment ,but I can’t believe it doesn’t do weight limits so I’ve got to be set wrong somehow .ta
It does weight limits but cos there’s so many and new ones you will struggle.
best set route and when it wants to turn down a restricted road ignore it.
the sat nav should automatically reroute.
that’s the best you can do apart from going into map corrections and blocking road to HGV whilst your there.
Seems odd. I have the earlier 5150, which (I think) uses the same maps - v950.6514 on mine. Depending on whereabouts in Grantham I start from, it will route via either of the two routes you mention. Even if I set the start point at a couple of miles before Waltham and deliberately ask for a route to somewhere close by that would require a right turn in the village, it won’t do it because of the weight limits (OK - it will do it, but only after warning me that “No truck route could be found”).
I’m thinking that something in the mapping data is corrupted - I’ve seen similar on an earlier TomTom Truck model when I somehow got the weight data and the road data from two different map versions loaded onto it.
Try viewing a map of the route and zoom into Waltham - you should be able to see the weight/height restricted sections - on the 5150 they are shown in a purple colour, but on the 6000 I think they are shown with coloured dots.
Obvious question - you haven’t accidentally set the vehicle type to car, have you? It will still “remember” the most recent truck settings but won’t actually use them if you do this.
Failing this, it might be necessary to reload the truck maps - maybe best to contact TomTom support as it’s a lengthy procedure with some big downloads. I’ve always found their support desk to be pretty good once you get past the first-line script monkeys and talk to someone who has the authority to deviate from the standard responses.

It’s brand new ,only used it twice ,no it’s set to truck ( seems fine with bridges ) ,it’s doing the same comming back from rugby ,instead of first exit after hobby horse R/o then 607 - Melton - grantham or straight up 46 to Bingham ,then 52 into grantham it’s telling me to come off at six hills ,then across country to come back onto 607 at Waltham again ,if you ignore Waltham turning on way to rugby it then tells you to turn right and take 606 in Melton instead of continuing through melton on 607 ,I’ve checked settings ( left as standard 40 t/ 10t ) ,so I’m a bit lost to be honest ,I’ll havevto ring Tom tom ,ta raymondo

But isn’t the point of a truck sat nav ,it routes you to avoid weight limits ,bridges etc ,If I’m going to have to keep correcting it because it keeps trying to route me down 7.5 t limits then it seems a bit pointless ,I might as well save the £300 and just use my map, eyes .
I know it will never be perfect ,but surely it should try to avoid weight limits not plan to drive down every one .
there’s something not right here ,maybe it’s newish out and there’s glitches ,.
I may order a alternative and just see what that does ,ta
As I already said, mate - I saw identical behaviour on an earlier TomTom that was fixed by simply reloading the maps. In my case my route would have been straight down the M6 and onto the M1 but the TomTom had somehow placed a 7.5T restriction on the Southbound M6 at Coleshill, and wanted to divert me off around the houses to avoid it. Give TomTom support a shout and they’ll have you sorted in no time (assuming you have access to a computer with broadband Internet Access…)
When my 5150 was fresh out the box it was a pig and it was going out the window, it took a couple of updates for me to have any sort of confidence in it ,even so I know better safe routes and the machine tries to send me the odd way but it’s not even a wife with a map i can argue with just a machine, so life is easier ignoring her
chill 8t ain’t even gonna be perfect but it will be better than the wife
