Be ok to update it to truck spec?
No. It would only provide icons on screen for the truck related POIs listed.
TomTom truck software requires a specific NavCore (operating system software) to be loaded on the unit, as well as specific Truck maps.
THIS is a normal tomtom with the truck maps already installed or if your a bit handy with computers, you can get the truck map and navcore form navitotal and install them on 530,730,930,540,740 or 940 tomtom yourself
Truck maps will go on almost any tomtom it is just a case of adding a new truck navcore to run them.I Know a guy who has made a go 910 running the latests maps with alg tts hnr all working movie player 20 gig hard drive.They are quite impressive.
