My current TomTom is an old car version, and although it’s never been a problem, the coal it needs to run it is playing havoc with my front axle weight!
And I’m loathed to pay hundreds of quids for a proper truck version, I’m going to follow like most and download the truck software and do my own.
But which is the best base model TomTom to start with and upgrade? It’ll be a second ■■■■■■■■ off eBay, but there’s that many models around I ain’t a clue where to start.
All help appreciated, cheers.
I don’t know about the best but I use a Tomtom 730 and it’s fine.
I think you’ll find that a 520, 530, 720, 730 will be fine and you can get them at reasonable prices last time I looked.
Two things to look out for is that the model you choose has at-least 64 MB of RAM and an SD card slot.
I had an old Go 920 (hard drive model) with the Truck map on, and although it’s a bit sluggish compared to the 730 it did the job quite well.
What model have you got now ?
It’s an old TomTom One, but it’s 32mb and run’s slow enough on it’s own never mind from the card!
