Tried that and the powersaving mode but something stops the installing to device when the laptop is inactive for 5 minutes. On here now it has finished downloading from the internet and is now installing to the TomTom, 40 minutes to go 16% done but sometime halts at the end and takes ages before it tells you it is safe to disconnect. I think it is badly written software myself

Ste, I would Regret to inform you that there is an ongoing issue with the Map share updates for all European maps taking time to be installed on the devices. Our technical team is working diligently to find a suitable resolution for the this issue. As you can understand, this being a technical issue, we are unsure of the time it may take to get resolved.Â
However, I would suggest you to please follow the few steps mentioned below that might help to get the installation completed :

- Factory Reset the device :
- Tap Settings in the Main Menu.
- Tap Reset factory settings.
- When prompted to select a language (Do not select a language), & do a soft reset on your navigation device as follows:
Press and hold the On/Off button until you hear the drum sounds and the device restarts. This can take 30 seconds or more. - Select your preferred settings, then wait for a valid GPS signal.

Make sure you have Enabled the map share on your navigation device by following the few steps mentioned below :

- ToJoin the Mapshare on your device as mentioned below :
Tap on Settings > Map Corrections > Map Correction Settings / Corrections from Others > Join/ Ok

Also Please make sure you have configured the Security settings on your computer in such a way that it should allow full access to My Drive to its servers. Please have a look at the below link :

What should I know before downloading updates?

 Once done with the above steps. now follow all the steps below on your computer :

- Click the MyDrive Connect icon ( or )Â in the Windows notification area or Apple menu bar and then click Settings.
- Select the Cache tab.
- Click Empty the cache.
- Click Save settings.

Once done with save settings then, Soft Reset the Device as mentioned below :
 - Press and hold the On/Off button until you hear the drum sounds and the device restarts. This can take 30 seconds or more.

Wait for the Map screen To appear and then connect the device to the computer and try downloading the Map update only at a time & then Quick GPS fix and then other updates one by one. Even if the download or installation appears to stop or freeze, keep it connected for four to Six (4-6) hours, then check if the download has been completed.

In reply to the opening question…
Yes markoc I had to send mine back to tomtom to get the sound fixed. My sound just stopped working one day after about 3 months. It was done under warrantee , it took about 5 days to repair and has been fine since.
I agree with the other posters about updating etc., It takes forever, a real pain…
