My Tom Tom GO 7000 has developed a problem whereby it takes it upon itself to go into HELP ME mode within a short time of starting a journey. If it finds the Bluetooth to my phone it then attempts to call the nearest police station. Funny if it was not so serious.
Any sensible suggestions as to how I can resolve this?
Mine did some thing very similar, it kept scrolling through the screens and making random phone calls via bluetooth. In the end I gave up and bought a different brand. Sorry this doesnt answer your question but im betting its a common fault. Mine was only about 10 months old. Best bet could be to send it back I think Tom Tom offer a repair service.
I think the reset on these is a little hole underneath, you need a paper-clip to stick in it. It is on the 9 series and I though the 7’s are pretty much the same?

Hi DYMM,
I’m no teccy, but I think you’re correct about the reset.
I have a TomTom GO730, and it has the reset underneath exactly as you’ve described…
I have sometimes had need to do a reset with this when using the TomTom update service, cos sometimes my lappy doesn’t regognise that I’ve just connected the TomTom.
To do the reset, I simply poke a paper clip into the little hole (where I’ve put the larger pointer) and hold the little switch pressed down for a couple of seconds. This needs to be done with care, and with only very slight downward pressure.
I’ve no idea as to the how and the why, but doing a reset (with the TomTom turned off) for a couple of seconds does seem to cure that problem, so maybe it could help the OP??
