Im after a little bit of advice from anyone who’s tipped sugar from a tank please.
I usually tip PP but just lately I have been given sugar to tip. I tipped it a few times and all went well but the last 2/3 loads have left white sugar in the stainless delivery pipe and it looks like the sugar has either got hot and crystallised or its got damp as its set hard around the inside of the pipe .
I have 2 after coolers for the blower, 1 on the unit and another on the trailer. Air temp is about 30’c. I tip at 1bar with the product valve about 1/2 - 3/4 open.
Any advice as to what I may be doing wrong to have the sugar residue set in the pipe, or tips for the discharge of sugar are appreciated.
Thanks
Hi, when you have finished tipping you normally do get residue left , this is because of the warm air coming after the sugar as cleared the tank. One way round this is to stop the pressure after the sugar, You could try doing a cold air blow.
The sugar also sweats a bit in the hot weather inside the tank, and can make it a sod to blow particularly if it’s not been dried thoroughly after the wash
Thanks for the replies guy’s.
Yea I back the product off as soon as I hear the tank starting to blow empty so I don’t have loads of hot air blowing down the line. At least I now know that the residue is kind of normal. It’s a white solid type of residue coating the inside diameter of the pipe. Usually near the product valve end.
Yea I thought that the sugar might swet a bit in the tank. Thanks for the help.
If the sugar was to hot you would get black treacle stuck around the product valve, it would have to be very hot to do it though ( I’ve had my blower cooler fail and not had any problems in the middle of summer)
caramelised sugar, it wants some onions chucking in near the end
