You name a lorry n this firm almost certainly had one . Been at it for a long while, 90+ motors I’m told. Based at Charnwood trucks old garage also own J21 truck stop. I was told that they took A J Bull over, does anyone know.I don’t know about them taking over A J Bull, but I do know when I was on the bulkers we done a bit of work through Bulk freight midlands, but it was actually sherwoods who you got paid by.
Yes Scamm when they had Bulk Freight they also got a very big house in with the deal, I know because the crowd I worked for rewired it. I did some work at Bulks garage n also George Varney at Watford Gap. As you know they were big in refuse shifting same as Bull which would make sense if they did take them over. Keep them pics coming they’re a tipper mans delight
Glad you like them you can never have too much of looking at good old tipper photos!! will keep them coming
ARC selection
As far as 6whlrs go by far and away the best for me. Mine was at the far end L reg ex ARC.
First one I drove for Whitmore n Hickens (I think) ex ARC. A funiosity to drive ,never missed it can’t think of anything about her that was good
Another Ballidon truck in those Tilcon pics, DHL 959 V driven by Dennis ‘007’ Bond, an ex W.H Phillips driver. That was also fitted with a bunk and ‘greedy boards’ for distance work and the body was kept clean (no tarmac) to enabled selected stone or oiled grit etc to be carried, about half the fleet were kept clean for those special loads. The sand trucks on the weighbridge will probably be at Four Ways pit in Cheshire, I loaded from there a couple of times into Manchester.

Fernyhough Farms, now what a character he was! No doubt ROF will have encountered them. RMC did like their Constructors, they had a lot locally based at Doveholes and ‘possibly’ at Eldon Hill (Buxton), Shining Bank quarry (near Bakewell), Crich quarry (when it was under the Butterley Aggregates banner, pre Tarmac ownership) and Staveley tarmac plant. Only Doveholes is still operating nowadays. The ones I ran with at Shining Bank had mostly Leyland engines and went well, although at least one had a ■■■■■■■ L10. At Crich they were Gardner turbo powered I believe?
