TIER 4 - official

New Tier 4 restrictions introduced by the Government
The Prime Minister has announced new Tier 4 restrictions in England to control the spread of coronavirus.

From Sunday 20 December London, together with parts of the South East and East of England will enter Tier 4.

Tier 4 restrictions will remain in place until the next formal Government review on 30 December.

You can read more about the measures on GOV.UK

Vocational lessons
The Government has confirmed that vocational lessons must not take place in areas in Tier 4 from 20 December until the restrictions are lifted. You must not travel out of this area to give training or to take a pupil for a test.

In-vehicle driver CPC training must not take place in areas in Tier 4, but remote training can continue. Classroom training should only take place where essential.

Vocational tests
All vocational tests will also be suspended in areas in Tier 4 from 20 December until the restrictions are lifted.

If you have booked a test for any of your pupils in a Tier 4 area from 20 December until the Government’s next review on 30 December it will be cancelled and you will be automatically refunded.

Theory tests
The Government has confirmed that all theory tests will be suspended in Tier 4 areas from 20 December until restrictions are lifted.

We will email anyone who has booked a test and is affected by this to let them know their theory test is on hold and that they will need to reschedule it by visiting gov.uk/change-theory-test.

If you booked your pupil’s theory test you will need to log into the booking system and rearrange their test for a new date and time.

Not a surprise sadly. Lockdown 3.0 due in January no doubt.

NHS are already planning for it so I’m told because of this new strain.

Things just aren’t going to get any better anytime soon until either mass testing of everyone or vaccines for everyone and even then it doesn’t look like things will settle down anytime soon sadly.

It’s really becoming a bit of a bummer now and the economy is going to be even harder hit than it has been.

It’s going to take a long long time to get back to proper normality and the economy and countries finances back in order.

Also with Doris saying he’s updating on the 30th rings alarm bells

Absolutely gutted,

Thanks for posting the official line Pete,

I’m in tier 4 and had my training week booked on the 6th Jan, Considering i’m in one of the worst places in the UK I cant see me being able to do after the review on the 30th.
Can thank all the Morons who have spent the last 9 months ducking the rules in their own self righteousness, mixing with family/friends and carrying on as normal.
Meanwhile muggings over here who hasn’t seen family or friends for months on end is the one who suffers.
Christmas plans out the window…new job even further away…Stuck doing something i hate for even longer although i am grateful to still have a job after this year and a job where i can work from home.

A trip to Aldi to now stock up on my changed Christmas plans reveals exactly why we are in this mess. Social distancing none existent, People not cleaning trolleys with the cleaning materials provided, People squeezing in front of you to reach what they want on the shelves rather than being patient for 10 seconds for me an my heavily pregnant missus to get out the way. And those that don’t “believe in the virus” well i hope that they take it home to someone they care about and see if they follow the rules then.

I wonder where you stand in regards to shoving someone out your way for coming inside you personal space…in my mind that isn’t assault…self defence from potential infection. (I’m not talking about 2 meters before anyone jumps on me) i’m talking about these morons that come out of nowhere and end up a foot from your face to reach/stretch around you rather than waiting.

Sorry about the rant…bloody ■■■■■■ off.

I feel everyones pain with this one; as a training provider in South Wales we are forced to close the doors for the third time this year.

Hopefully this is the last of the major disruption and the new year will bring more positivity.

Wishing everyone a safe Christmas, and to those who still have a test booked - take care and good luck!

I am getting the feeling that my resit booked in for the 1st Feb is going to get postponed, I feel the pain of it being pushed further away to sticking my notice in and getting chucked my first set of lorry keys in a job… But it will be worth it wheneveevit does happen

While I’m a little further ahead I failed a test so need to wait to sit it again, my first batch of training got cut in half my lockdown 2, and feel the same why about current Job, I don’t like it at all anymore and I really want to be out in a truck, but think of it this way you have gone for it, you have made the decision to leave it behind and become a hgv driver, you every day is one day closer to that first time you put the tacho card in and you are getting paid todo it, the first time you roll out the gates on your own, you have spent much longer behind you getting to now, can get through it the light at the end of the tunnel is there.

My second retest is booked for 14th Jan. Not with PSTT this time unfortunately but within Level 3 in Scotland where supposedly the tests will take place.
But who knows what’s gonna happen…

That must be even more frustrating when your waiting for a re-test. And knowing the light is there and you get a little closer to it…the it moves further away again. We will get there in the end, it doesn’t help that i hate my job now but like i said, i count myself lucky to still have it.
I just cant help but blame everyone else for this, if people followed the rules/guidance…it wouldn’t be that bad that they have to close everything again.

Hope it still happens. And wishing you all the best with it. Let us know. If you need any help in the meantime, contact me.

It is frustrating, and yeah the level of people not taking things seriously has made things happen but that’s an entirely different debate, we will both have our licence soon enough, and be loving our jobs for a change!
